Monday Night Double-Header: Giants-Vikings, Ravens-Texans

“Bringing down the house” took on a new meaning Sunday for the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings, prompting NFL officials to shift the location of the game to Ford Field in Detroit (7:20 pm ET).

NFL betting for Monday is now two for the price of one since the Ravens and Texans were already set to square-off at 8:35 pm ET and we’ve previewed the matchups with NFL picks for both games.

NEW YORK GIANTS vs. MINNESOTA
Line: Giants -4
Over/Under: 43.5
Weather played a big role in Week 14 but for no game bigger than the Giants and Vikings. Sunday at around 5 am the Metrodome roof collapsed from the weight of more than 17 inches of snow and the delay gives QB Favre (shoulder) an extra day to heal.

Coincidentally, the game had already been postponed after the Giants' flight was diverted Saturday to Kansas City as Minnesota air travel was shut down. Football betting odds, originally posted by online sportsbooks at Giants (-2.5), took a small jump with the move.

Latest reports are that Favre is leaning towards sitting but if he does start we feel it would favor the Giants as the veteran continues to force balls into tight coverage, leading the league in interceptions (18).

Tarvaris Jackson is ready if necessary but the Minnesota’s rushing attempts the past two games were season-highs (38, 40) and that will be the focus of the Vikings gameplan. New York should be able to handle it and at the neutral site we like the favorite.
Pick: Take the Giants

BALTIMORE AT HOUSTON
Line: Ravens -2.5
Over/Under: 45.5
Both Houston (even) and Baltimore (minus-2) are low in turnover differential and have struggled to create takeaways. The Texans are home and sportsbooks are giving credit to what that could do for Houston’s offensive potential but it’s the defense in need of the most help.

Houston’s only real defensive success this season came against the Tennessee Titans and Rusty Smith. Every other opponent has scored at least 24 points and the past seven (other than Titans) scored 29 against the Texans.

Baltimore has the New Orleans Saints on-deck making this a Super Bowl-Champ look-ahead spot, but their season rides on this matchup. As the Ravens prepare for a big finish we don’t see them letting the campaign fall away vs. such a woeful defensive unit as this.
Pick: Take the Ravens
