Old timers tell me he threw harder than any pitcher ever.
They also tell me he was one fine gentleman.

This is a sad time. Got a chance to meet him once, a great guy. Still passionate about baseball up until his last breath. Could talk about the game all day long, and was extremely knowledgeable.
I think he was the greatest Cleveland athlete ever. Did so much for his country, the Indians franchise and the city of Cleveland.
RIP Bob...we will miss you tremendously.

Feller served on the USS Alabama Battleship in WWII. The Alabama is now a floating museum in Mobile, Alabama. They have a sign showing which bunk he slept in. No "big league" treatment for him - he went and risked everything to fight for his country. After the War, he went back to playing baseball. A special breed - RIP.

I remember in the twilight of his career he was 13-3 in 54 & all were wondering if he would get a start in the series in 54, as he failed to win a game in 48. One of the first players who got my attention when I was a child. Greatest Indian ever. I think he broke the strikeout record at 17 years old, that is almost inconceivable.
