ABC is pulling out all the stops to promote the second season premiere of V set for January 4th. A number of sneak peeks have already been released, and the network has now released the first fourteen minutes of the episode online.

V episode 2.01 titled Red Rain starts with Evans in the midst of a nightmare where she sees Tyler die in front of her, but that is only the beginning. Mixed in with some footage already shown in the previous sneak peeks, this new footage features Ryan returning to Earth and to the fifth column. However, Hobbes has his doubts.
In these opening minutes, viewers are also given their first look of the first hybrid baby between human and visitor. With the red sky over the city, there is mass panic from the humans below. There are riots and unrest with no word or contact from Anna about the red sky.
Meanwhile, she must deal with unrest in her own fleet, and she handles this to brutal ends by killing one of her own men. She does this as an example to the other ship leaders. Anna is truly enjoying her power here. That much is very clear.
Check out the first fourteen minutes of the episode at the above link. What do you think? Are you ready for the return of V?

V “Red Rain” Review

V “Red Rain” Season 2 Episode 1
– I was thrilled when I learned that V was (finally) returning to ABC. I’d missed the show tremendously and wasn’t disappointed with the season premiere of season 2.
First of all, let me say that I freaking LOVE Brett Harrison. When I learned that he was joining this season, I freaked out. His “Anna’s a lizard? That sucks, she’s so hot…” was priceless.
That being said, “Red Rain” was great. Since we were left with a cliff hanger in the series finale, I was grateful that some things (not all) were explained.
While we were told the benefits of “red sky” and “red rain”, obviously from the start we as an audience knew that that it was too good to be true. Anything promised by a giant lizard hibernating in human form is always too good to be true, and it looks like instead of clearing up global warming as its main focus, red rain is just a way for The Visitors to make sure there is enough phosphorus in our systems to breed with us.
All together now – Ewwwwwww.
The red sky raining down what appeared to be blood was awesome symbolism (or I’m reading too much into it… for all I know phosphorus in its natural form is red), and also a great moment to see humanity having a “what the hell did we do” moment with themselves.
I appreciated the way that the writers showed Anna still having human emotion when it came to her children. I understand that this is a habit she’s going to have to kick and quickly to be an effective queen, I liked watching her inner struggle as she switched off the life support systems of the surviving children.
Did anyone else think that the visitor/human baby looked a little bit like a mini Yoda? Not nearly as cute, but there was for sure a Yoda-esque quality to the little bugger. I’m anxious to see what becomes of that story line. I’d really like to see Ryan reunited with his daughter, but also really want to see the way that the story line between him and Anna plays out.
The skeleton of the visitor that Dr. Miller had will probably haunt my dreams tonight, it was just that creepy looking. I can’t decide which is worse, the visitors with their reptile skin (the one that Anna killed was pretty freaking gnarly looking) or just the skeleton with it’s razor sharp teeth all exposed. Either way, I do not want to run into one of those things in a dark alley.
While tying up the cliff hanger of a finale, the premiere of V did an excellent job of introducing more questions into the story. Anna’s mother? That was a PERFECT ending to this episode. I cannot wait for next week.
What say you? Did you find the season premiere of V just as thrilling as I did? Or was something lacking for you? If so, what was it? I’d love to hear your opinions!

I like the show.

Lots of holes in the plot, but I don't take television too seriously.

Luckily i happened to see that last night, and it's right up my alley.

Hopefully i can find season 1 somewhere, to rent or buy.

It reminds me of First Wave & another Sci-Fi series {can't recall
the name at the moment} that had numerous similarities.

I watched the original V as well and liked it.

I would say this one is on par. I enjoy it just as much.

'V': Jane Badler stole the show!

by Darren Franich
Categories: V

The-Serpents-Tooth_320.jpg
Image Credit: ABCOriginal V femme fatale Jane Badler strolled onto the greenscreen set of V 2.0 last night, and wowzer, she completely tore the greenscreen roof off the place. Besides finally giving Morena Baccarin’s Anna a worthy opponent, Mama Diana’s first scene was an info-dump of far-reaching mythology. We learned how the Visitors originally came to Earth — the detonation of the first Atomic Bomb was like a beacon shining across the universe. Even better, we learned that the seemingly all-powerful Visitors have a problem: We knew they had to figure out a way to keep their species going, but now we know they’re running out of time. “The next viable planet is too far away,” said Diana. “It’s Earth…or nothing.”
In a thriller, there is no more elemental tension than the ticking clock. The new V creative team clearly realizes this, because last night’s episode injected all manner of tick-tock tension into the proceedings. At the start of the episode, we saw a Fifth Column suicide bomber detonate himself in New York. Turns out, there was a whole network of detonations across the world — and the timer was resetting. (One of the Feds literally looked at his smartphone, which was apparently set to the website fifthcolumnsuicidebombcountdown.com, and said “The timer is resetting!” Cheesy, but exciting-cheesy.)
Our lovable rebel band was in a bind. On one hand, they didn’t really support the actions of the suicide bomb squad — they were killing innocent civilians, and perhaps more importantly, they were handing the Visitors a PR home run. But Hobbes rightfully noted that this new branch of the Fifth Column had a global network, whereas our lovable rebels have a church cellar, a fantastic wardrobe, and nothing else. Meanwhile, Father Jack was suffering from the knowledge that his anti-V sermons had indirectly led to all the violence — the first suicide bomber was one of his parishioners.
Last night also continued the season 2 trend of alien grotesquerie, which I love. Anna put human skin on Ryan’s baby — to remind him of his dead wife, and also because animating an adorable little dinosaur creature would put a serious dent in the V budget. But the little hybrid baby was hungry! So Anna opened up her serpent mouth, chewed up some vermin, and regurgitated the animal bits into the hybrid baby’s mouth. Pardon me while I regurgitate with joy. (Later in the same episode, Rekha Sharma pulled a disgusting serpent’s tooth out of her blood mouth. I imagine that an adolescent boy who watches V will be extremely confused by women for years to come.)
Let’s be honest, though — the best parts of the episode were all Badler. Whether she was half-swooning over Mendelssohn (“I first heard this music on Earth. No, I didn’t hear it. I felt it.”) or taunting Anna over the possibility of her daughter’s betrayal, she injected a much-needed sense of camp grandeur into the show. I’m less certain about Anna’s newfound existential quest, which can be summed up with the most incredible/ridiculous line of the night: “The soul is the single greatest threat to our species!” So, Anna’s plan now involves isolating the human soul and destroying it. This could either be fun (like an Ayn Rand novel) or incredibly belabored (like an Ayn Rand novel.)
Viewers, there are eight episodes left in this season, and given last week’s ratings, they might be the last eight episodes ever for this version of V. Will you stick around for the rest of this season? Think they’ll ever let Diana out of the sewers?
