Ill be in Vegas in a little less than a week for the first time. I am the opposite of a high roller aka a low roller. Ill be there for 3 days and am wondering about some good things to get into. Will have about 1k with me. Any good advice on the best table games to play or places that might be better for lower stakes stuff?

It's getting harder and harder to find low-dollar gambling. On the Strip Casino Royale is about the only place left where you can find craps for less than $5. Downtown is usually a little cheaper (and a lot better for gamblers, in my opinion), but even most of those places are inching up the price scale with their gambling. Try the El Cortez in that area for the best chance of finding a cheap table.

I run this site, and it might have more information that would be helpful:

Though I haven't done it, you can now zip line down Freemont street - looks cool as all heck.

You should try the Sahara on the strip. They're catering to low rollers and I really like the place. Off the strip, where you can get a shuttle from the Fashion Show Mall among other places, is Sam's Town. Great place to gamble and have a good time. Usually have certain beer specials for like a buck!

Good call, Bagiant. The Sahara is so far down on that end of the Strip that I tend to forget about it. For a cheap joint, it has a pretty fun vibe.

Even the Downtown casinos are all trying to move up to $5 minimums at the cheapest. The last time I took a walk through in the daytime the El Cortez was the only one with some $3 tables.

I really hate that. Wasn't at that long ago when it was easy to find some dirt-cheap games Downtown and have a great time.

Try to get your hands on a Las Vegas Advisor. The founder, Anthony Curtis, is a good friend of mine. He has a great story of how he moved to Vegas and litteraly lived off of next to nothing. I have seen people live off of that book for weeks without spending money.....while eating/drinking/gambling very well I might add.

If you venture Downtown, make a point to stop in at the Golden Gate for some shrimp cocktail from the snack bar (not the diner). The servers are the world's slowest, but that $1.99 treat is better than shrimp cocktails I've paid 10 times more for.

if all you are taking is 1k then DONT GO, its a waitse of time, and stay off away from gambling on the strip, i would say ROyale is the only place on the strip, a few downtown and then there are alot of "local's casinos. you could play 5 dollar blackjack i guess for 5 or 6 hours total
