This is quite the manly topic, I know. But none of my friends have this problem or my dad so there's that. I like being clean-shaven but my neck gets TORE up. I use the Shick Hydro, an extremely expensive "sensitive skin" lather with AMPLE application, shave in the shower after 5-6 minutes of hot water opening my pores, go with the grain and do one solid stroke to not tug. Upon finish, my face and neck look phenomenal. I quickly change the water temp to cool to close the pours, pat down my neck, and immediately apply sensitive skin after-shave gel.

Within 3-4 minutes, bumps and tiny cuts show up and I look like I have a rash breakout on my neck ##)

So, 24/7 I need to rock a 5:00 shadow just to avoid this irritation and MAJOR problem. Anyone else go through this? This is like, sensitive-sensitive skin. It drives me crazy. My roommate pisses me off because he just shaves with water and I want to kill him.

So yeah? Anyone else like this? Anyone have any tips or products they live by?

Yeah I could probably get away with just the razor and nothing else. Don't know if this would be the best place to get advice on this.

Well, all the information I find through google just explains to take the steps I take. So online resources (non-forums) do me NO good because I already do what they suggest.

I realize this thread will probably be filled with a bunch of crap but if one response helps, it's worth it, lol.

i have extremely sensitive skin as well, and at times have had the issue you have...however i have found that not using ANY KIND of after shave gel helps alot....it seems that even those for sens skin, caused more problems....i just use a triple edge razor ( mach III ) most of the time, and an aloe shave cream, and hot water.....but i dont apply anything right after shaving, i dab with towel and basically let air dry..

I do notice that SOMETIMES the sensitive gel does make it more noticeable (despite getting rid of the itchy, irritation feeling).

Have never come across one that goes beyond leaving a little stubble (what I currently do). But thanks Dwayne!

had this problem too until I started use a gillette fusion razor and most importantly Nivea for men sensitive shaving cream. (its in a white bottle) pick it up, it works wonders.

The only one I use ^<<^

I have no hope, I'm starting to realize, haha

That cream is definitely the best I've ever used. It's possible I just haven't found the right razor yet?

I would try laying off the after shave....and just rinse with hot water after. I never use after shave cause when I do it just brings out the irritation and redness.

Will check it out and will definitely skip the after shave next time. any more suggestions or anything guys, definitely keep it coming. I'm graduating college in the Spring and will be looking to get into a very public (advertising) field and need to curb this problem. Even if I keep a beard, the neck must be clean-shaven, otherwise looks like shit.

I appreciate all input so far.

Shaving is a PIA !

Are you obsessed with it, as in shave more often than daily ?

If you do it 2 or more times daily...that could be the issue ?

I shave every 2 or 3 days.

Mix it up ?

Try cheap-ass lather from Ivory soap, perhaps ? Since it is pretty pure ! Maybe even something like Crisco or butter ? Not meant as to be sarcastic.

How old are you ?
