Iowa man calls 911 to report a drunken driver: himself

Police in Iowa arrested a man for DUI Christmas morning after getting a 911 tip -- from the driver himself, the Iowa City Press-Citizen reports.

Iowa City police say Francisco Castro had called the emergency hotline about 8:30 a.m. Saturday, but spoke little English.

Officers tracked the cellphone call to Highway 6 East where they found the 25-year-old man behind the wheel of a running vehicle, the newspaper says.
According to the police complaint, Castro told officers he called 911 because he thought he was too intoxicated to continue driving.

The report says police allegedly found an open container of hard liquor in the vehicle, and that Castro's blood alcohol content was 0.22.

Approximently 1.5 years was given a sobriety test in that same area on the same highway............only had 2-3 beers, but I was sweating it out.

Passed

Hate it when they ask to recite the alphabet slowly and then fast, because I don't know the damn thing sober...........they really should eliminate that test, as it is not fair for those not good with english.

By the way, would never call 911 on myself, at least I'm not that stupid.

I wonder what you not knowing the alphabet sober is a reflection on- Your high school diploma or your magna cum laude degree from the University of Iowa.@)

I've memorized the alphabet backwards JUST in case they ever ask me to do that if I get pulled over. Happy to say I can do it wasted without batting an eye. Good thing I don't drunk drive anymore.
