Baltika №6 Porter

Since April 2008 three premium Baltika varieties — Baltika №5 Gold, Baltika №6 Porter and Baltika №8 Wheat — have been united into the Baltika Selected series. The Baltika Selected is a new image combined with the original but familiar content and invariable quality. Brewed with added high-quality ingredients and having a racy flavor these varieties are meant for unhurried drinking in sedate and relaxed surroundings.
The Baltika №5 Gold is distinguished for its golden colour, distinct malt aroma and nice sweetish flavor.
The traditional Baltika №6 Porter is brewed according to old English recipes from elite hops and special yeast.
The characteristic features of the Baltika №8 Wheat are thick dense foam, soft fruit aroma with spicy tinges and light sweetness.
In March 2009 is one of the oldest brands of Baltika Breweries - Baltika №4 Original — joined the Selected series. It’s a dark drink produced with rye malt, which adds bread flavor and light bitterness to the taste.

The Baltika №6 Porter beer was designed and launched in production in 1994. This traditional dark beer is brewed according to old English recipes. The elite hops, special yeast, purest water and high skill of the brewers are a guarantee of the popularity of the Baltika Porter. Baltika Breweries makes this beer using the best kinds of dark and pale malt. All this ensures the unrivalled taste of the Porter that was appreciated not only by Russian consumers: this beer is exported to 30 countries around the world.
The Baltika №6 is one of the most eminent and titled brands of Russian beer. It has been distinguished by a great number of awards won at Russian and international contests.
For two years running (2004, 2005) the top quality of the Baltika №6 was appreciated at the Brewing Industry International Awards contest that is considered to be a brewing Oscar. The high international jury adjudged this brand the silver awards in the Strong Beer category. In 2004, 2005 and 2006 the Baltika №6 Porter won the silver medals of one of the most prestigious professional tasting contests: the European Beer Star Awards. In 2007 the brand was awarded a silver medal in the category of the Low Fermentation Beer with the Alcohol Content of more than 6% at the tasting contest of the X Beer Festival in Helsinki. Twice, in 2007 and 2008, the Baltika Porter got silver medals in the Porter Packaged category at the Australian International Beer Awards contest. Besides, in 2008 the American Brewers’ Association marked the Baltika №6 beer with a silver medal.
At the end of July 2009 Baltika №6 Porter was officially acknowledged the world’s Best Porter. It became one of the winners of the fourth international competition World Beer Awards. World Beer Awards is an international tasting competition that determines the best beer brands. It is organized by the UK magazine Beers of the World.
The Baltika №6 Porter is the only Russian beer that entered the catalogue of "Great Beer Guide: 500 Classic Brews" by the world-known writer and beer expert Michael Jackson (complete namesake of the American pop-performer). "It is the flavor that makes these drinks great… Every time you raise the glass, there seem to be more flavor and aroma", wrote the author about the great beer brands.
The Porter beer is a dark beer with a characteristic vinous savour and strong malt aroma. This beer is very nourishing and foaming with a considerable alcohol content of 4.5-9.5 % (more than 10% in some varieties). The availability of at least one dark beer brand in the assortment of a brewing company is an indicator of the high brewers’ skill.

That Flats reminds me of the Nickabocker or was it Knickerbocker, who the hell cares but it reminds me of college back in the 80's. We used to buy a half dozen kegs of it for a Friday night party $40.00 each. We would charge $5.00 a head and me and my 9 roommates would make $50 each...lol

I'm not sure what tastes worse, beer or wine, but if i had to choose it would be
a very sweet port sipped very slowly, or heavily diluted with grape juice.

When they can come up with a beer that tastes as good as smirnoff ice, mike's
breezers, sambuka or kalua, then i'd give it a try.

Wow, this is very hard to comprehend, not only by me, but I'm guessing the majority on this forum.

Wow, this is very hard to comprehend, not only by me, but I'm guessing the majority on this forum.

I find it hard to comprehend how people like the taste of wine, which tastes like vinegar
{such people should also enjoy slowly sipping vinegar over apple juice, eh?}.

I also find it hard to understand how anyone enjoys the taste of beer, which looks like
piss and is probably much the same to the tastebuds {altho i've never tried urinal juice.
Maybe someone should bottle it, since it seems so popular/sqaure ; Must be an acquired
taste, eh?}. I've only tried beer as a teen, some 30+ years ago, and even cider i preferred
much over beer. Have they improved beer since then?

I'm sure the cheaper price of most beers vs Bailey's Irish Creme & the other delicious tasting alcoholic beverage's i mentioned must appeal to most people. But, price aside, would you prefer the taste of a glass of sweet OJ or vinegar? Your guess is the majority/squares would choose the latter, i guess. If you can get an alcoholic high for less money, why not endure the awful taste of wine & beer, right, unless a couple bucks more is no object. I think beer & wine must be an acquired taste for anyone who truly likes that sh*t.

Some people call the sweet drinks those for ladies. But at a liquor store i was told by
an experienced male clerk that these are just as popular with men. Maybe a lot of guys, though, feel they need to drink beer and avoid what i drink due to popular opinion, eh? As a sports investor, you should know that the majority viewpoint is wrong at least 50% of the time ;

P.S. what does Billsfan drink? I am quite curious to hear the answer,
although i know alot of ladies drink beer and wine. I think red wine
may be a popular choice due to the alleged health benefits. Beer,
not so much, perhaps, in that regard, as it has a rep for pregnant/
beer belly.

I can't drink wine. Well, I can't sip on it. I take big pulls of it like I would from a liquor bottle if it is around and I feel like getting drunk.

I like drinking alcohol on an empty stomach. It makes the high so much better.
In fact, if i didn't need food and could drink an unlimited amount of booze daily,
even if it were beer and wine {god forbid!}, i'd never eat anything, and drown
myself in a perpetual drunk 24/7, 365/yr, for life, until death do we part!

So you agree that wine is like vinegar & beer looks/tastes like HIV infected piss?
