i think jim has done a pretty good job at stanford, but given a choice, esp if i were mich, hand's down it would be padderson or peterson WAY ahead of jim...just because jim 'look's' lie a pretty boy w tough guy attitude doesn't mean he is going to be a great coach. tressel would own harbaugh if he would of gone to coach at mich...

I would love to see Tressel recruit and coach at Stanford or Notre Dame

90% of his recruits wouldn't even qualify academically at Staford.

... free cars and free tattoos at OSU, overloaded undergrad classes with 300 students and personal tutors to do your HW is why they even have football at OSU. It is shit school for undergraduates - pretty good after that.

He has been successful at a place where it is extremely difficult to be successful. Plus he runs a pro style offense which the other two guys do not.

Name any major program that isn't like that. I love guys like that think these coaches are paid to graduate players.

Miami won in the '80s and '90s, just like nebraska in the '90s and OU in the '80s because they didn't care what type of players they got, they wanted to win.

Go read about the UW Huskies from 2001. Great book on it.

He would own Ohio State if he was at Michigan. Look at what he is doing now & he does not even have superior athletes. Imagine what he could do at a school with much easier academic qualifications.

Don't give me this academic qualifiaction bullshit. Monty had Stanford in the Top 5 every year, when he was there.

You see, for MANY schools, the honor and dignity of its diploma means a lot more than it does to shit schools like Ohio State. That's why they don't have winning football programs ... or they don't have football programs at all.

Know what?

The President in ANY school (even schools in the SEC, Big 12 or Pac 10) won't:

a. comment on other programs' schedule and call them Little Sisters of the Poor
b. allow players to play in bowl games if they're academically ineligible

Ohio State is proving that football means so much to them that they will disregard their image to win a stupid game. That's why they are a shit school ...

... and Jim Tressel is a not Jim Harbaugh .... and he never will be.

That's like saying:

"Name any ho who won't swallow for a few bucks. I love guys who think that hos are just paid to fuck"

You see, some schools don't ho themselves for football like OSU does ... integrity and academic integrity means something. Stanford, Notre Dame, Boston College are a few of those schools.

Other schools in my city, like Harvard, MIT, Boston Univ, Tufts, Northeastern etc. don't even try to play D-I football at all ... because they know what it takes to be successful, so they just stay away. At the end of the day, academic integrity means more to them than it does to Gordon Gee and his pimps.

it would take him at least four yrs, imo, before they would even be able to compete w osu....remember what osu has DONE to mich the last 7-8 yrs can be used in recruiting for tressel also. shit, he is even getting 'mi men' to come to osu....lol

a 'pro' style offense in coll doesn't mean anything. if that's the case, bo schembechler should of coached in the nfl then. i believe harbaugh has been there 5 yrs, w only two of them being successful....the last two....people lie his 'look' more than anything....imo, there are many better coaches out there..

All week, Jim Harbaugh had a good feeling about making the jump to the NFL and joining the San Francisco 49ers — just the way mentor and late Hall of Fame coach Bill Walsh did more than 30 years ago.

Declaring it a “perfect competitive opportunity,’’ Harbaugh accepted the job as coach of the 49ers yesterday and said his goal is to win a Lombardi Trophy for “one of the legendary franchises in all of football.’’

The successful Stanford coach receives a five-year deal and gets to remain right at home in the Bay Area after four years with the Cardinal. A longtime NFL quarterback, he replaces fired coach Mike Singletary.

ESPN reported Harbaugh’s deal is for $25 million.

“I can feel the enthusiasm coursing through my veins right now,’’ said Harbaugh. “I accept this competitive challenge willingly.’’

While Harbaugh, 47, said he had all but made up his mind to accept the 49ers’ offer following a meeting of more than six hours that went into Wednesday evening, he took a couple of days to hear out his other suitors and do his “homework.’’

“I knew in my heart and my gut the right decision was with the San Francisco 49ers,’’ he said.

Harbaugh’s big brother, John, is coach of the Baltimore Ravens.
