He had a very interesting career in New Orleans.
Its very hard to put a label on him.
I remember him in college thinking he would be a bust in the NFL. I was not impressed. This was before I had any idea that my Saints would draft him.
Even had a very intense thread about this 6 years ago on this forum titled Reggie Bust.

Then I found out the Saints were going to draft Bush so I was forced to try to like him.
What I found out was how great of person he was off the field. Although I was not impressed with how I thought his game would translate to the NFL, I had no idea what kind of competitor he was. His will to win, his complete lack of selfishness.
He handled the Heisman thing with pure class. Personally I would have told them people I was keeping my trophy and would have told them to shove it, but Reggie gave it back without any problems even though he did not have to.
There are many players, if they would have been put in Reggies shoes would have been a huge distraction to all involved. Every year his role got reduced a little bit more each season, to the point where cast off Julius Jones was getting more touches then Reggie yesterday. He never complained, he just kept being a great teammate, and I will always respect him for that.
Did he put up the numbers that a #2 pick of the draft should put up? Not even close.
But I think the Saints made the right pick at the time.
Back then the Saints team was in shambles. After Katrina the chances of the Saints moving to another city were high.
When the Saints drafted Bush, the Saints went from 30K season tickets to selling out the dome with just season tickets.
Every game has been a complete sellout ever since. There is also a 15 year waiting list to get season tickets right now. Reggie deserves a lot of credit for that. He brought excitement that even Drew Brees could not bring at the time.
He has shown flashes of greatness on the field, but nothing sustainable.
But off the field you can make the case he saved the Saints from moving to another city.
For that I will always be greatfull, and I wish nothing but the best for Reggie in the future.
