Some empty seats might be the scenery as the 2011 BCS Championship game will unfold today between Oregon Ducks and Auburn Tigers in Glendale Arizona.
A large winter storm currently battering and will continue to bring inches of snow and ice through a large stretch of the deep south from Texas all the way to the Carolinas. Ten states down south are under winter storm warnings, Weather Channel reports. Northern portions of Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, and all of Arkansas could see snowfall totals of 3-7" of snow. The governors of Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee have declared emergencies and schools and colleges have called off classes. Massive number of Auburn fans were stranded were seen stranded in airports in Atlanta and other airports in the South.

Meanwhile Auburn University students must go somewhere other than campus to watch the Tigers play in the national championship bowl game Monday. Auburn University has canceled all viewing parties and other events planned as the state prepares for severe winter weather. As seen on Auburn's site,
"Auburn University closed Monday, Jan. 10, due to winter weather; Planned BCS viewing events canceled" -AUBURN UNIVERSITY - AUDPSS/EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT"

The 2011 NCAA football season reaches its finale Bowl tonight as the Auburn Tigers and Oregon Ducks square off in the 2011 BCS Championship game. The 2011 BCS national title game should provide plenty of excitement as we get to see Heisman Trophy Winner Cam NewtonCam Newton do battle with the high-flying offense of the Oregon Ducks. This finale of the 2010-2011 Bowl Championship Series will be played at the University of Phoenix Stadium, the host facility of the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona on January 10, 2011 8:30 p.m. ET.

The game will kick off around 5:30pm pacific time on ESPN.
