Not arguing with you about being overrated but Newton has a much better touch on the ball than the missiles Russell used to throw around.

Personally, I thought Newton looked like shit tonight. It seemed they had a million opportunities to put Oregon away, and they just kept punting the ball away. He had that one opportunity where he overthrew the wide open WR. And he almost choked the game away on that fumble. Except for picking up a couple first downs, what did he really do? The Auburn defense won that game. And Dyer was very good too.

Imagine if that game went to OT? Oregon had all the momentum. Cam would have been a huge goat.

What's he really gonna do in the NFL?

Nothing, as big as he looks on the field against the Oregon smurfs, he won't look that daunting against NFL defenses. He is a gimmic QB in a gimmic offense. He wouldn't last 8 games in the NFL running around the way he does in college.

who cares he is a heisman winner and just won a championship... he carried this team on his back... he probably is taking a pay cut going to the nfl anyway

The next Vince Young... Can't read a defense to save his life and has bad throwing mechanics... Who ever drafts him will regret the day they drafted him.

And if he keeps taking hits from NFL players the way he did tonight he will be out of the NFL in around the same amount of time as the promethazyne head.

too many nfl teams & not enough qb's...Some team will draft him..

i do not think newton will be able to take the hits... that a 16... or maybe 18 game nfl schedule has to offer a running qb..

vick got beaten to a pulp this year..& he is faster than newton

unstoppable on 3rd and short then again, is that a quality you want of a qb or a rb? never saw him play during the season, but can't say i was impressed with this outing obviously. he def suffered a concussion during the game

He was definitely the main reason Auburn got there, but he did not play his best game tonight. Whether or not he's overrated?? We'll see...

Evaluating his performance tonight in terms of his prospects as a future NFL QB, he looked horrible.

NCAA football and the NFL are two different games.

Cam Newton is a Winner. Period. Two Years. Two National Championships.

Russell was a great athlete, but never a winner. LSU won despite him in many games.

Newton has the arm to play in the NFL, if he can pick up the offense in the NFL is the key.

Newton has only played one year of D-1 football. Where was the second championship?

Cam Newton will not be atop NFL QB. His skills do not translate into being an NFL QB. He would be one hell of a TE though. He will fail at QB in the NFL, a mid level QB at best. He does not read defenses very well and has poor throwing mechanics. He not a very good passer for the NFL, college yes but not for the NFL... Move to TE and be an all pro. He is the next Vince Young period...

Besides he will lose the Heisman and Auburn will be stripped of this championship anyway. Everybody knows his family got paid to go to Auburn...There is no denying that...
