It will be. The iPhone was released on the 3G CDMA network. The model of the iPhone initially being released does not allow phone calls while surfing on the web or video chatting.

its not the model that doesnt allow it.. its the cdma line that verizon runs on.. it does not allow surfing while chatting as it is single band.

Do they think this will be fixed soon??

I was loyal to verizon for years until the Iphone was released about 3 years ago. I switched. ATT WAS HORRIBLE FOR ME, I didn't even get 3G until October of this year! When we travel my fiance who has Verizon ALWAYS had better signal, and the lake house we visit, I get no signal...

I can't wait to go to Verizon. I didnt get the Iphone 4 so I could switch over this year. But I am going to wait until Verizon allows talking and surfing. Im surprised how often I do that

Anyone know more about this

Also, if I make the switch, all the apps I bought on my old Iphone, do I have to rebuy them or do they transfer?

Mobile Hotspot feature (iPhone as WiFi access point) sorely missing from AT&T version (prohibited by AT&T policy) doesn't seem that great of a feature on Verizon if the internet access shuts off everytime you receive or make a phone call.

been with Verizon from day 1
even before then.... when it was New York bell... or whatever Bell it was

Also have AT&T because like others, when the Iphone came out...you had to have it.
Drop it so fast that I didn't even get to know the Phone......AT&T Sucked Big Time !

never left verizon.... I just kept both.... and when I wasn't happy with AT&T
I just paid the $175 to say Goodbye

I have an I-Phone & the best thing I ever did was switch over with it to T-Mobile. $80 a month including taxes & I have unlimited everything.

Its not so much "being fixed". The next iPhone released will be on the 4G network and will let you do everything. They (for lack of a better term) "rushed" the release and chose to go with the older technology for this release.

You live in NYC. You have that luxury. T-Mo's coverage is very poor not in major cities. Alot of people can't do that. And FYI read the fine print their (along with many other carriers) definition of unlimited is not unlimited, it is 5 GB. And for unlimited minutes...its unlimited to other T-Mo customers.
