id imagine it ends monday for most during football, sunday during the rest of the season. i had a guy tell me his locals week ends tuesday year round. doesnt seem to make any sense to me. anyone know why he would do this or another local who has a goofy schedule? i wanted to ask him, he was a dealer at the casino though and went on break right after, so i didnt get the chance.

got a better "local" story for ya...got a guy that comes in my work, does parlay cards and works for a book...i dont play the cards cuz i know how bad odds they are, and i play online.....one of the guys i work with was listening to me hype Auburn for 2 weeks, decides he wants to play them....asked me would i bet them online for him if he gives me themoney....i explain the moving money in and out thing, and that's its not feasible to move 50.00 if u are just making one bet....he decides to bet it with this guy's bookie...makes a straight wager on auburn (-3) for 55.00.....

thinks he has a push, guy comes in today and he's looking for his 55.00 back, guy says " oh no, we dont do pushes, never have", and begins to brag how they are glad they held all their wagers rather than lay some off, cuz they won on all sides.....i stepped in, said i know you dont do pushes on the parlay cards, u said that, but how can u not have a push on a straight wager, guy just bet 55.00 on auburn, no over/under, no parlay , no nothing....he says. " oh thats the way we've always done it"...

I told him not to bring his cards into our restaurant anymore.......i think he really screwed this guy out of his money.....my dad and uncle were both bookies, have known a million bookies in my day, never knew one who called a push on a straight side wager a loss......knew " a few " who called a push on an over/under a loss, cuz you played OVER 40 and it didnt go OVER 40...even though i thought that was bogus....so i never played with those books...but this was a joke, geez......

Exactly then whats the point of the half point. Don't like pushes then throw in the half point. Sounds like this guy was taking advantage.

ya i seen some locals do some shady shit. the parlay cards i believe mostly say push equals a loss, i havent seen one in a few years though. in fact one of the first bets i ever made on sports was on a parlay card, hit a 6 team parlay 20 bucks paid like 540 lol, im sure online it pays much more, i dont get into 6 team parlays though nowadays. i believe collecting the juice only on a push is somewhat standard for old school guys.

to take this another direction, isnt this sort of bad business? theres a level of comfort in nfl betting that isnt there with other sports, for whatever reason. the reckless bettors more likely to be more ballsy on monday night football if he knows he gotta pay up and cant get it back tomorrow. pete rose once said that he only thought monday night football was played so you could get back wat you lost on sunday or to press what you won. having the week end when the nfl ends IMO promotes wilder betting. i think a normal joe whos down 10 units would be more likely to put it on monday night football then say cleveland and toronto in a tuesday december nba game.

exactly, which is why you want this to close out the week. then after monday night football you have nfl sunday playoffs, super bowl, ncaa tournament (round ends on sunday) sunday night baseball, usually a lot of nba playoff games on sunday, so it makes sense to end it sunday. as a local, you should want your week to end with some big event.

knew a local who would end his week monday and parlays paid 3for1 on mondays n could tie it in to halfs n quarters... after the MNF Heinz field fiasco after high school and college games played on the field
so he started charging 20 cents on quarters and halfs and then by college hoops turned on the other side of the counter betting his own plays or "Alan Bostons" info. rumored to have ended up owing well into 500k
dont know anyone else giving out 3for1 on Mondays anymore $$:($$
