I grab Durant and Derrick Rose.

If I were to take someone other than Rose , it might be Rondo.

I imagine Dwight Howard will get some votes.

It would be hard not to take Durant and Howard. You can always find a good passing PG.

Why? cuz he can jump? if u consider Duncan a PF no one will ever come close - most consider he a center though

Whenever an expert picks his all time greatest team - only 2 positions r never question - SG and PF - those r unanimous

I assumed when he mentioned Rose, he meant starting a team today.

Rose and Howard (and Love and Griffin) are going to be free agents too soon

I'll take Durant and James

really?

REALLY?

hands down not even a question: lebron #1, d howard #2 and i will crush your team with durant and rose

regardless of who you take, LEBRON is by far the best nba player out there. just because he has pulled some antics in his career does not warrant people to take a player like rose over lebron. i am stunnned. lebron's defense is by far one of the best in the league whereas durant and rose are not even close. i guess if you are the average nba fan and root for the "good guys" i can see you picking durant/rose, i dont even think its close

Love and Durant. I think the Lakers will rescue Love from Minnesota in the next two years.

I would take a 22yr old Durant over a 26yr old Lebron. Lebron has been in the league for eight years. Eight years in the NBA takes a toll on your body.

durant, i can give you, its debatable... he is a great player, but he is no where near the complete player lebron is. durant is a better shooter, i give him that, but lebron has better handles, passing, defense, and driving to the lane, but still DEFENSE by far. you bring up a good point stating that lebron has some mileage on him already, but i think you would agree that lebron has been the best athlete/skilled player the nba has seen in maybe forever. he is built bigger than most power forwards in the league and can take care of the ball as well as almost any guard. but i will give you durant as a debatable replacement.

the few of you that have said kevin love.... i really dont get this one. are we starting a nba team or a fantasy basketball team? love may be a beast on the boards but he REALLY can't play defense that well. his lateral movement is not that great and is def not the best athlete around. can someone explain to me how and why they would take love to start a franchise? again, not fantasy basketball.

this is kind of a loaded question b/c there's really no clear wrong answer. take any 2 guys and your gonna have a team that competes and has a shot to win but is competing enough? you have to draft well etc to win a title. celtics went from worst to 1st in a year b/c of moves. they are old now when kg/allen/pierce are gone and they go back down to what happened after bird parrish and mchale left. can fans look back and say ya it was worth it? personally id let lebron slide (bc like someone said he's been in the league for 8 years and the wear and tear on the body. id take 2 guys in their early 20's (durant as the lock) and roll and see what comes up b/c at worst your gonna have a competitive team for well over a decade.....hoops is weird b/c its doesnt take a lot to build a winning team b/c active roster is only 12 guys and basically your only like 7-8 deep...its not like other sports where you have to be WELL balanced....what the patriots are doing year in and year out is mind-boggling IMO b/c football is the complete opposite from hoops...hoops you can build around 2 guys and in football it would be impossible...i read poker blogs and this was posted earlier from a ravens fan and it illustrates my point how hard it is to win in the nfl...

"I guess I have lived a very fortunate life when this is one of the worst things that has happened to me, but god damn that game was just absolutely brutal. MY first thoughts are that that I feel awful for Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Terrell Suggs. Our organization has absolutely wasted 2 of the top 5 or 6 defensive players in nflhistory. To have only one super bowl between them is a fucking joke."

LeBron is a QUITTER and that is the last thing I want in a player. (Now don't tell me he didn't quit on Cleveland against Boston last year.)

I know a lot of NBA players quit on a team during the regular season, but I have only seen Lebron do it in the playoffs.

Right now, I want players who try hard ALL THE TIME ... Like Rose and Griffin ... Superstars set examples for role players and I want mine to have character.

you cant take lebron because he is a quiter!!!!! to say you would take love is just ridiculous and griffin is exciting but he is no dwight howard...
I think howard and durant is the way to go and that there is not much of an argument against them....

howard is the most dominant big man in the league right now by far and we know what he can do in the playoffs..
durant is already great!!! he can score from anywhere and on anyone and only lebron and kobe are in his class in the NBA, kobe's to old and lebron cant handle the pressure so you definitely want durant....

durant and griffin....it is really easy for me....they are so young it is gonna fill seats and win championships

if i have to give back this team in a few years and i only have a few years to try and do something then i will easily take lebron and kobe.....not that lebron is old but durant and griffin fill seats and should have a lot of career left.

Are we talking any player right now as they are?

Meaning, the exact age they are at this time, or any player right now and assuming they are all young or in their prime?
