....am i the only one that thinks maybe they are more like under achievers? not only today, but look at the 18-0 season that ended up all for nothing as it went down the drain with super bowl loss!

This year they played much better than expected. So they actual over achieved. This was supposed to be more of a bridge year.

They're still better than ANY organization in the NFL.

The only teams that are as solid and consistent are maybe the Eagles and the Steelers.

... and please don't tell me the Ravens are in that class.

No, there were others like RedEye.

Except you were the only one who hid behind the curtains until they lost and then opened a thread on it.

i got nothin for'em or against them,,,,,,,, just all this talk about what a great template they are for success and that they are what everybody wants to be?! but they have not won the super bowl since the 2004 season. i just dont get it! no agenda or curtain hiding here. just asking a question.

You can't take away the SB's they already won, I'm rooting for Favre's teams and Under achievers like the Ravens so even though I root against them, how many other teams have 3 SB ? Pittsburgh maybe

They are a fantastic franchise. I live in Seattle and am a Seahawks season ticket holder. What I would do to have a franchise like that in town. The big four or five (Bears, Packers, Steelers, Patrios, Colts) will always be relevant in the post season. The rest of the teams, including Seattle, just round out the divisions to keep the league going. Oh, and once in a while they throw us a bone like Super Bowl 40 and when we get raped we are supposed to be happy.

Patriots are a great franchise.

"Patriots are a great franchise" - i agree with that statement. just gotta think they are kickin themselves for lettin a couple of titles get away from them in the last few years is all.

what are they supposed to do?
2010 14-3, disappointing playoff loss, but this was supposed to be a rebuilding year
2009 10-7 Brady rehab season, killed by Ravens in playoffs
2008 11-5 Brady missed entire season, 1st time in a long time 11 wins wasn't enough
2007 18-1 one freak play from perfection

winning the SB is not easy, you have to learn to enjoy the ride

In the past 25 years, only three teams have one three Super Bowls.

Giants, Pats, 49ers.

I hope everyone who thought NE was overrated cleaned up. They were -190 NOT to win the superbowl when the playoffs started. Unless you think a team is pretty damn dominant that is tough odds to passup so I'm guessing all the anti-Patriots backers won a ton.

oh wait, they probably figured the Pats would win it all cause they rolled everyone regular season and are just being MMQBs now...

The over under for the season was 9.5.
They overachieved as far as the regular season and got themselves a number 1 seed. Ultimatley they underachived as that number 1 seed.

But one thing is for sure there always going to be in the conversation for the next 5 years or better unlike 25 or so other NFL teams.

Good point, did you fade them before the playoffs knowing they were overpriced since they at that point were only 4-4 in the playoffs in the last 5 years? Didn't really see a lot of "Fade the Pats, they aren't the juggernaut everyone is saying they are" posts on here before yesterday. All I'm sayin...
