Ive been getting calls at home from 2 local numbers during the day while the wife and I are at work. I see the number but nothing else. Just want to make sure someone isnt casing my house (or wife). Calls always seem to be at the top of the hour but at diferent hours. I see there are ways to look up numbers but they want credit cards etc and I have no idea which ones actually work.

Anyone know of a free one, or even a legit for cost, but one that wont steal my cc info?

i usually google the # itself.....most of the time the particular # comes up on message boards.....every once in awhile you can get an address and look up the very place on google street maps.....

a few can be challenging, but i've never received a call from a # i was unable to pinpoint by utilizing certain free and popular websites.....

intelius is bullshit....they will want money before giving anything useful

nevermind you said fee, not free....i guarantee you can do it on your own, some #'s are harder than others, but it's very doable

correct 1000%

I had a situation many months ago with someone calling me restricted around the same time every week for 8 months. I was able to forward my number to a business number which shows the number of all restricted numbers, and they were caught. It was my former girlfriend. No police agency can do it without a warrant.

Dont ask me how they do it but bill collectors and even some sales calls i get come from what comes up on the caller i.d. as a local number, but when i answer its some collection agency or a taped sales call from bumafuck, egypt.
But sooners right, if the number is a bullshit artist a lot of times just googling the number will show other people complaining about the same number, the 1's offering to sell u the info are generally full of shit...

not that this answers the original op's question, but you can always caller id spoof.

http://spoofcard.com/

this site allows you to enter your phone number, the number you want to call, and the phone number you want to show up on the persons cell phone. so say i wanted to prank call or harass wil, i could do so and when he sees the incoming call i could have it set so that his phone registers it as a phone call from betallsports (if i know betalls #) or any other mod on this site. as long as I know the phone number of who i want to call and someone id like to pretend to be, the possibilities are endless. Now of course i could just make up a random number to appear on the phone with a local area code.

I get calls from a lot of sports books that are from Florida. One even comes up as the Cunard Line which is a cruise ship line. If you try and call them back, it says the number is not in service. Wonder how they do that trick.

I still have my California cell number. I called an employment agency that has offices in Arizona and California. When they called me back they called from Arizona but it showed up as a California number.

The lady at the employment agency said that when they call out it checks the number they are calling and it calls from the closest office to the number they are calling, which in this case would be California.

So the phone systems can call from a central number and it will appear as though they are calling locally.
