I did for three days one time and the hunger stops after a while but on the third day it started to hit me and all I could think about was food and carbs.

I just fasted for the hell of it to be honest. I tried it the first day and noticed that I wasn't getting hungry and wanted to see how long I could go. I had a beer when I started to eat again in the 3rd day and I could feel it a lot more than ever.

I went 3 days without food one time. I only had water and apple juice. This wasn't a planned "fasting"; I was simply too lazy to walk across the street for McD or a burrito. =|

Fasting promotes detoxification. As the body breaks down its fat reserves, it mobilizes and eliminates stored toxins.
Fasting gives the digestive system a much-needed rest. After fasting, both digestion and elimination are invigorated.
Fasting promotes the resolution of inflammatory processes, such as in rheumatoid arthritis.
Fasting quiets allergic reactions, including asthma and hay fever.
Fasting promotes the drying up of abnormal fluid accumulations, such as edema in the ankles and legs and swelling in the abdomen.
Fasting corrects high blood pressure without drugs. Fasting will normalize blood pressure in the vast majority of cases, the blood pressure will remain low after the fast, if the person follows a health-supporting diet and lifestyle.
Fasting makes it easy to overcome bad habits and addictions. Many people have overcome tobacco and alcohol addictions by fasting, and even drug addictions. Fasting rapidly dissipates the craving for nicotine, alcohol, caffeine and other drugs.
Fasting clears the skin and whitens the eyes. It is common to see skin eruptions clear while fasting, and the whites of the eyes never look so clear and bright as they do after fasting.
Fasting restores taste appreciation for wholesome natural foods. People say that their taste buds come alive after fasting and that food never tasted so good.
Fasting is the perfect gateway to a healthful diet and lifestyle. Going on a fast gives you the motivation and enthusiasm to make a fresh start.
Fasting initiates rapid weight loss with little or no hunger. Most people are surprised at how little desire for food they have while fasting.

I used to fast a LOT. I kind of enjoy it. It's a challenge to see how long I can go. But I tell you 2 things make it tough : 1 - Brain power, tough to think and concentrate. 2 - Hunger pains

I fasted for about a week one time. Just had water and juice. After the 2nd day I didn't really get very hungry. But what's funny is that you become so aware of how much time people spend eating. Seemed like people around me were always eating eating eating. I got so bored just watching & waiting for people to finish their food!

2 sides to the each story

Every day, someone new decides they are going to cut out on food and use fasting to lose weight. There are many different fasting programs out there or you can just go online and look up chat forums filled with tips on how to survive on juice, water, tea, and other liquids alone. If you're considering this road for yourself, please proceed with extreme caution.
It's true that you can lose substantial amounts of weight in a very short period of time by fasting. A brief fast that provides the body with some nutrients can also be used for breaking an addiction or compulsive focus on food for some people. For other people, fasting intensifies the focus on food and can lead to an all-out binge that undoes whatever progress was made during the fast. The deprivation is just too much psychologically.
Before you start fasting to lose weight and find out how it will affect you mentally, consider how it will affect you physically. If you go on a fast that provides a lot of liquid nutrients and vitamins that your body needs and only stay on it for a very short period of time you will probably be okay, but you should not count on the weight staying off forever.
It is when you fast for longer periods of time or don't provide enough sustaining nutrients during the fast that you run into problems. For starters, the weight you lose doesn't make you look your best. Rather than shedding real stored fat much of what you lose is water and muscle.
Losing water dehydrates the body and robs you of energy that you need to sustain an active life. As soon as you stop the fast you will gain the water weight back immediately.
Losing muscle gives your body a very weak, frail appearance and drops your metabolism so you burn fewer calories all day long. You actually lose weight slower when this happens!
So, you are depriving yourself of food and you are losing weight at a slower rate. The longer you go on fasting to lose weight, the fewer calories you actually burn.
Many people report finding it difficult to exercise while fasting because they aren't very energetic, they have problems focusing, or get dizzy with physical exertion. These are all signs that the body is not getting the nutrients it needs to function properly. It is fighting to sustain basic demands so anything extra like exercise is too much.
With extreme fasting, your metabolism can completely shut down and your body can assume a famine has hit. At this time you start storing as much fat as possible. Everything is turned into fat and stored because your body is protecting itself from a life-threatening famine that could lead to starvation.
You don't think about starvation when you first start fasting, but that is where it can lead if you take it too far. Many people won't get to this point because the mental deprivation will get to them first and they will cave to that big binge that delivers nutrients into the system again. Others can become addicted to fasting which leads into a lifestyle much like anorexia.
You may believe you can sustain some minor fasting from time to time without falling into extremes, but it is important to use caution when fasting to lose weight. There are other ways to lose weight quickly without putting your health and life on the line.

I have seen many people go on a crackload of fad diets to lose weight in every case they did not work.. what did work is the basics

Eat small meals ( use a coffee cup saucer plate and fill that up)
EXERCISE 4-5 times a week
eat things in MODERATION watch your calories but don't be obsessed by it , if you happen to have a burger for lunch , balance it out with a small salad and tuna for dinner or a simple bowl of raisin bran... Your biggest meal should be always be LUNCH and NEVER dinner as you have more time to burn calories, also do not eat to late... eat dinner by 6-7 pm latest , earlier of possible

if you follow this it works and you do not have to starve yourself, it has kept me thin for 15 yrs

I'm hungry weather I eat or not, so other than to avoid starving to death why bother spending any more than the minimum amount of money and time on it?

I actually do put a good deal of resources into eating simply because unlike virtually everyone else in the world I actually like eating

Last week think I went 36 hours without eating, went to the salad bar for 15- to 20-pounds, then didn't eat for another 24 hours or so

What you eat is far more important than when you eat

Going without coffee is another issue

totally agree. wehighed 212lbs, go dumped by a chick, depressed and didn't eat like for 3 or 4 day's straight w out leaving the house. woke up and said to myself, 'fuvk her!'. i went down to my basement and started working out w a huge attitude. in two month's i went from 212 down to 170. felt awesome. kept lifting till i got my weight back up to around 180. but basically, everything that you mentioned about result's of fasting i truly believe. food taste better, changed attitude, new motovation. i am glad you started this thread, i need to do another fasting myself for at least two day's. don't smoke any bud and you should do just fine harry...

I guess I don't see the appeal of starving myself. Eating healthy and exercising seems to do me just fine.
