This Is......A-M-E-R-I-C-A-N ... I-D-O-L....(Season #10 Official Thread)...

Well, here we go again.....same old thing, but NOT quite....

We have 2 new judges this year, replacing the 3 departing judges, Simon , Kyra, and Ellen.....

We have many format changes, including no top 24 this year, the judges will narrow it to top 12 quicker....

once in the top 8 ( i believe is what they said ) contests will need to make a video to go along with their song each week.....

The contestants will be mentored weekly by a top artist's musical mentor, in hopes of finding more of a "star" rather than just a good singer..

Many changes coming our way, and will be curious to see if AI can still pull it off.....despite reports of its demise, and many saying it's past its prime, it continues to be the highest rated series on TV year in and year out.....

We'll see what this year brings...

And for those that don't realize it, AI affords numerous betting opportunities for those that follow along...many props are offered and if u get the hang of how the public votes, it can be very profitable to watch....

Let's enjoy the season, and the premiere kicks off tonight, on Fox....

I only ever watch the first couple of weeks for the terrible and hilarious auditions.

yeah, i enjoy that for the first couple of night, but before too long, i'm ready to get rid of the crap and get on to the people who actually do have some talent, and deserve their shot in front of the camera....the majority of air time the first couple weeks is the crappy ones...but they are funny, especially the ones who really do think they are good

i liked the fact that they showed more decent singers tonight and less of the silly ones.......i like a mix, not just all the crappy ones.....

big fan here too........and geez, did u hear them say, Aerosmith sold 155 million albums, who would have thought they would have outsold the stones, beatles, all of them....said they are the top selling band of all time....

Format change. They are going to announce the top 10 on Thursday...and judges will add 2 wild cards. So people get one performance and America's vote and that's it before the finalist.

Trimmed down from 24 to 10 within 3 days.

12 guys and 12 girls...... by Thursday 14 will be cut and 2 will be added back via wild card. CRAZY change, but since they are focusing more on the top 12 and even showing them living together in the mansion I guess this is a step in that direction.

I have watch maybe a total of 10 minutes of idol this year, It has ran its course IMO they will never find another carrie underwood

well, this is one of the best "performances" i have seen outside the top 12 in many years....the talent this year is really amazing (not just saying that).....the 6 people they brought back last night as wildcards who were already cut, every one of them nailed it last night, and any could have been in the top 6 overall last year, and this year they dont even make the top 12

Just started watching when the final 24 were selected. Thought that the voters did an excellent job at cutting the group down to the Top 10 except for Paul. Don't think he belongs. The judges did a good job on the wild cards except for the last extra choice making it 13. Thought it should have been Giovanni. This is a pretty good group. Should have some pretty good performances this season IMHO.

Love the cast this season. Most compelling in a while.

Thia Megia went from 25/1 to 7/1. James Durbin went from 16/1 to 9/1. Those seem to be the biggest movers and shakers after the eliminations.
