Baltimore Orioles and veteran slugger Vladimir Guerrero are close to reaching an agreement on a one-year deal, MLB Network Radio reported on Friday.

Baltimore has not confirmed the deal and financial details have not been disclosed.

Guerrero is coming off a strong season with the Rangers in which he was named an All-Star for the ninth time in his career. The 35-year-old won his eighth Silver Slugger Award by hitting .300/.345/.496 with 29 home runs and 115 RBIs.

His HR production will likely slip to about 15 or so and his age will probably prevent him from hitting .300. He can still be productive but I don't see why the Orioles would want him since they are rebuilding. Baltimore's front office seems lost.

BALTIMORE - Free-agent slugger Vladimir Guerrero has agreed to a one-year contract with the Baltimore Orioles, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press on Friday.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal will not be completed until Guerrero passes a physical.
A second person with knowledge of the deal, also speaking on condition of anonymity because it wasn't final, said the agreement was worth $8 million
