You should be able to get a really good deal on a plasma TV, and you'll get a bigger size for your $$$. They also have a very nice picture. Notice, LED might have 120-240 hz, but plasma has 600+hz.

Yea but he is looking for a 30-50 inch for 500. I would look into a vizio, heard they were pretty decent.

The whole thing about 120-240 hz is misunderstood by people. You don't even need that crap. All it does is give the picture a smoothing effect. You only need that if you are watching movies and even then it's not really needed.

Vizio's not bad by any means but ANY Sony, Samsung, Panasonic will put it to shame. It's been a little while since I sold TVs but I know Vizio hasn't improved THAT much. Solid picture for the money though.

Vizio's highend series is rated right up at the top (xt series, I think?).

For 500 bucks, and if you're in the 40-inch range, i'd go with a Panasonic plasma... the black levels and contrast are great, and while not 1080p, at 40" it probably won't matter.

Got a 42" 1080p 120hz LCD from BestBuy for 500$ last Thanksgiving. You can find deals if you hold out.

I bought a Sanyo 42" LCD 1080p 120hz for $478 at Wal-Mart in a Black Friday sale. In fact, the last three tvs I've bought were from Wal-Mart. I shopped around big time but could not find a better deal.
