Any fitness experts here .

Gotta believe you could eat anything you wanted ( within reason ) and lose weight.

I'm not saying eat 10 cupcakes a day . But I would figure you wouldnt have to worry about eating pizza and burgers and some ice cream every now and then.

"Probably"

But I can't say I would recommend anyone run the same 4 miles every single day. Your body would get used to it and you wouldn't see the benefits if you mixed it up a little and did something else.

Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with running 4 miles everyday, it's good for your system. But not would I would do...

And even if you are burning more calories than you eat you still don't want to eat a ton of fatty foods like fast food for every meal.

Almost...you would have to change the way you eat burgers and pizza. If you make these things yourself then absolutely. If you are talking about BK and McDonalds then not really. If you make your own burgers with lean ground beef (93/7) the worst thing about it is the bread, you can buy your own pizza crusts, go light on the sauce, and load it with veggies, low sodium ham, and turkey bacon, and the worst part would be the cheese and the crust, if you go easy on the cheese then it's actually a pretty healthy meal that tastes good. At first you may not see a difference but after about a month you would see very good results, it takes time to retrain your bodys natural metabolism and you will notice it when it starts to happen, becoming hungrier more often. I would limit these "cheat meals" to 3 times a week max, if you are keeping the food "clean". Also if you have self control and limit the ice cream to days where you really pushed your workouts hard that would be great. Mentally, when you see the changes and see that its working your diet will get better and so will your workouts, the healthy living becomes a lifestyle and it can really transform your life for the better. Best of luck dude.

in reality , i wont be running 4 miles every day . what i will do is walk/jog 4 to 6 miles a day . walk a good bit , run for a few minutes , walk , run.... mix in a lot of stretching and some bowflex which helps with flexability for me . i eat decent but dont want to feel like i'm not having the things i like.

i live on the beach in florida , so i have a very long outdoor treadmill to use every day.

No you cannot.

If you want your body to be healthy then you have to live healthy. It is very simple. Do not eat anything that is in a can or a box. Do not eat anything that has white flour or white sugar in it or that contains fatty acids or trans fats. This means that you have to learn how to cook and you cannot eat at McDonald's or Burger King. You have to drink lots of water. You also need to have sea salt UNPROCESSED, I just drink one 8 oz glass of water with sea salt in it every morning and every evening. You have to learn to read menus and research how your favorite restaurants make their food. A lot of restaurants use oil that is extremely bad for your health. Some restaurants use oil that is very good for you. You need to learn the difference.

If you do this you will be amazed at what happens to you.

A friend of mine runs 5 miles a day and works out. But every night from work he would stop at Braums and have a cheeseburger and ice cream. He had this routine for years. But one day he had a checkup with his doctor because he wasn't feeling well. The doctor ran some blood tests on him, and it turned out his cholesterol level was at 300. In the dangerous category. The doctor threatened to put him in the hospital right away. So you never know. Some people can get away with eating like this, and some can't. But you always feel better when you eat right. Especially the older you get.

With a few exceptions, like prisoners and homeless, everyone already eats exactly what they want no matter their running or infomercial schedule

Likewise, anyone who wants to lose weight will do so. The laws of physics really hasn't changed much over the past few years, so it is easy enough to figure out

Eat whatever will make you the happiest. Run, walk and do tae-bo in whatever ways will make you the happiest. How can anyone fail at that?

i eat anything i want and though i have put on a few unwanted pounds, im only 170 so not too bad.

i will say one thing though, when i was very active and healthy, bad food such as greasy pizza/burgers would make me feel more tired and i was pretty much put off by delicious yet unhealthy foods.

now that i am a lazy bum (temporary), i pretty much eat some of the richest and unhealthiest foods, i guess i will pay for it with heart attacks when i grow older. but thats why theres still time to change

as for you question, i would have to say yes. if you ran (especially if you run not jog) 4 miles a day and did some bowflex to boot, i would say you can eat anything you want. but if you are trying to get a 6 pack, forget about it, you will have to with a fairly strict diet. but you can def splurge a couple of times a week

Nope - u will get fat if u over eat - even when I run 3 miles a day I will put on weight if I eat like a pig - if ur training for marathons or something than it's different and ur talking about walking - if u want to stay lean it all starts and ends with how much u eat

In theory, if you ran 10 miles a day, then it probably wouldn't matter what you ate since all that exercise would burn off whatever you consumed. It still wouldn't be a great idea to spike your blood sugar levels with crappy food, but that's another matter.

Actually, even if you didn't exercise, you would lose weight if you ate nothing but cupcakes and candy for an entire month. The reason you'd lose weight is your body would be malnourished and you'd get sick and weak pretty quickly. Not exactly the scenario you're looking for.

Curiousone is right about the oils. McDonalds, BK, Hooters, etc...those restaurants all use the cheapest oils they can find to make their food, and it can do a lot of damage to your body. Some restaurants are actually good about this, though.

A lot of people try to follow goofy diets, count calories, etc. I follow a simple rule: the less "processed" a food is, the better it is for you. Fresh fruits and vegetables are great since they are essentially untouched and straight from the earth. On the other hand, think about how many times over a frozen dinner has been processed (ie how many chemicals have been added to it) from the time it is made to the time it gets to your oven...

I have been all over the in shape/out of shape map in my life.

I have found it is more important to exercise correctly then it is to eat correctly if you only do 1 of the 2.

There have been times where I exercise like a freak and eat junk, and im in fine shape.

There are other times when I ate 100% correctly and did not exercise. This did not work out as well.

Now the best thing to do is to eat correctly and exercise, which I recommited to do this year, and thats the best of both worlds.

I had about a 5 year period where I got in a rut doing nothing but laying around posting on the internet. It was the worst time of my life.
This was back when I would post on this board all day. I ate wrong and did no exercise. I cant understand how I let myself get away like that.

Im proud to say, that im back to doing things the way they are supposed to be done. Eating right, and exercise. It changed my life again.
I will never go back.

well , were gonna give nothing but fruits , veggies , chicken and fish a try from now until the end of feb. i will have 2 cheat meals a week . like a couple of slices of pizza or a burger.

will have some eggs in the a.m. once in a while and will also have some of those 100 calorie cups of yogurt in the fridge. tons of water . dont drink much else of anything anyway.

will be on the beach atleast 5 times a week for a walk / slow jog for up to 1.5 hours which will cover over 6 miles. will mix in a little weight training .

we shall see what happens . hoping for 10 to 15 pounds .

Good luck World#1. Do something is always better than doing nothing! If you are going to have one big meal a day make it be breakfast...

Or better yet make sure that happens. Don't have a 100 calorie cup of yogurt for breakfast and call it good.

As stated above though it's not rocket science. Burn more calories than you eat, you lose weight.

You either have a fat gene or you don't. Those who don't burn everything they eat. For most the metabolism crawls. The older you get the more the weight stays on. It's a paradox. When you get in your fifties and it becomes harder to work out you have to do more to maintain weight. Don't believe the bull. The one's who are thin would stay thin no matter what. If they stop working out they would never become like you if your body is the type that stores fat. They can eat bread, desserts, pizza, burgers. They might develop other problems but being fat isn't one of them.

You can eat more if you exercise more but you can't eat like a pig and expect to burn it off in 20 minutes. Even a can of soda has around 210 calories and it takes 15 minutes to burn that off depending on your fitness level and all that.

hell no.....used to run 4-6 miles every other day in the army.....even on muscle failure days it seems like we'd still do mini 3 or 4 mile runs......there were plenty of fat asses (i was one of em), but i will say some of the middle aged fat asses would run the skinny little 18 year olds into the ground....it's all just a matter of how bad you want it
