I know there are lots of ghosts in forum world. People talk about it a good bit. Some of the other forums get a lot shit from people saying they are 10% posters and 90% ghosts.

Has anybody ever thought about the opposite of this? Like say 3 guys work in a sports office together, one guy has a user name, and the other two get caught up reading and just start posting under his name too.

For some reason i was daydreaming today and I got to thinking about how i got my posting handle and it was simular. My handle used to be my name, and once i realized how stupid that was I just used the guy who works for me's nickname.

Also on another forum a guy posted something that was pretty much a total lie about my business. I sent the guy a private message and he said something like, "oh i'm sorry that was one of my assistants posting under my name"??

aight thats all i got.

in one of my computer labs at school, i pulled the rx up one day (think it was the first day of class).....i didn't log in from there, just checked to see how many replies i had gotten to my latest "i'd hit it" comment.....anyway, i sit at the same computer every day (tuesdays and thursdays), and i noticed the rx is always close to the top when you pull the address bar down.....there are probably no fewer than 8 other classes besides the one i'm in, so it's pretty safe to say i'm not the only one checking it out from there.....

i will have to check on tuesday and see if someone inadvertently stayed logged in.....if so, i will post "the cukoo bird has left a turd" so that you will know.....

like some of these guys that have 40,000 post yet have only been a member for 2 years. How the fuck do they do it? I', on here all the time and only manage about 1500 post a year. At that rate it would take me 26 years to get up to 40,000 post

I always wondered the same , just obsessive posting in every thread possible.

The in-game threads... I rack up like 100 posts in a game just by typing in those suckers.

Yep. That's where the majority of mine have originated from. And everyone knows I have been doing NFL in-games for each game for the past 3 seasons.

More than one guy posting under the same handle seems really weird to me ! What does that accomplish ?

Now one guy with 3+ names makes more sense to me ( aka , ghosting). A guy can use different names at
different forums, no biggie

Wile E. Coyote aka Doug, but I fessed up and changed it to Doug at OGD

They could be handicapped, in wheelchairs, and just have lots of time on their hands. Or........wife works two jobs while the hubby stays home, smokes pot, and loves the computer.

The Rx mod team works very hard to keep ghost posters to a minimum. These days all new registrations are throughly screened. Some newbies try to use proxies to hide their real IP but we keep an eye on that procedure also.

wil, you guys do a great job as rx ghostbusters....but i think the question is the opposite.....not 1 guy being 3 handles, but 3 handles being 1 guy

Shdw01, in that case there is nothing to be be done for example if a poster or even myself opens his front door and allows a total stranger to enter and start posting as himself. He would of course be logged in so all the impostor had to do was understand how forums work and start posting.

There have been several cases where co-workers shared posting handles, all they need to know is the poster name and password.

I know of several cases in offices where one person had a user name and he allowed co-workers access to his user name to post.

There was one Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde case several years ago where the actual original poster was a friendly, honest and courteous poster who allowed an underling in his business to use his poster name.

The underling was abusive and profane when he posted, followed by the courteous and intelligent posts of his boss. I had to call the Dr. Jekyll poster and ask him what was going on to find out he was allowing someone to use his posting handle to voice his quite opinionated anti Rx rants..He read a few and put a stop to it.

That was kind of a strange case but well in the past now..In the going on six years I have been head mod I am seen quite a few bizarre attempts by posters with agendas (not all anti Rx) try to hide their identity by mimicking another poster. I suppose there may be a few cases still active, as long as any poster behaves there is little chance of him getting caught impersonating another poster. Notorious posters are another matter, we catch new versions of the famous posters from the past every now and then..

most posters whether they admit it or not "care" about their online persona and would take measures not to let someone use their login IMO......and if someone did i have seen the real poster come in and say that was my roommate sorry or that was my co-worker etc.etc.........this isnt" real " life but if you are here because you enjoy the b.s. and to hopefully improve your gambling ....you take it serious
