face it, americans need the nfl. super bowl is more important then christmas and the nfl is the politics of this century.

if there is a work stoppage, will people take to the streets, riot, and demand a compromise so they can sit on the couch all day and watch football again?

No, Sundays will be jam packed with college games, if so, I'm cool with that.

Sunday's will not have College football. College football schedules are set years in advance for 75% of games and they aren't going to move games for NFL. College football is on Saturday's so alums can come in Friday and leave Sunday.

The world didn't end in 1982 & 87 when the NFL went on strike. There's no reason to think it would happen this time.

Nope! People find other things to attend or watch. Then come back when the agreements are finally reached. Baseball, football, whatever. It doesn't matter.

Obviously yes. Look at how pissed off Egypt is that the Egyptian Football League is not in action.

you cant compare 82 and 87, because the nfl is 100 times more popular now.

the nfl is ingrained in every american. like i said, the super bowl is more important than christmas the nfl is the politics of the 21st century with constant news coverage year round.

The NFL can look at what happened after MLB's last strike and how the NHL has basically fallen off the map after their cancelled season. There may be a few extensions, but there will definately be an agreement. But you also need to remember, this negotiation is about money, fans are not in any of the conversations.

jimmy vaccaro would like to disagree with you...

and everyone knows college football would never move games for money...

http://www.lvrj.com/business/sports-books-could-take-big-hit-if-nfl-has-work-stoppage-114891724.html

Jimmy Vaccaro, director of sports operations and public relations with Brandywine Bookmaking LLC, said with the amount of money bet on professional football expected to be up over last year, the impact of an NFL work stoppage would be felt across the sports wagering industry.
"We don't want a work stoppage," Vaccaro said. "Its impact would far outweigh any stoppage in basketball or baseball."
Brandywine Bookmaking owns 16 Lucky's Race and Sports Book locations in Nevada. Revenue figures were not available for the privately held company.
If a lockout occurred, Vaccaro said, he could see a shift toward college football wagering as the NCAA and television networks, such as ESPN, move games to Sunday and Monday to fill holes in their broadcast schedules.

You got that right. My guess is that if there is no NFL on Sundays it may take a while to shift a few games over. I would think that some of the "lesser conferences" would jump at the opportunity to make some money and gain some national exposure. I certainly don't see people taking it to the streets over this. I just hope that if this thing drags out that the owners don't bring in replacement players like they did last time.

The only rioting would come from all the baby mamas, who aren't getting their alimony from the sugar daddies.

I think baseball might have a chance to make some hay post Labor Day. But, it is probably too much to ask for that moron Selig to plan for the opportunity this presents.

No way the lockout will last long enough to cancel the Superbowl. Maybe at worst there will be a shortened season, maybe I'm too optimistic.

wouldn't think so. If so, I hope its a race thing, you know whites vs. blacks and so forth. Kinda like QB's vs DB's...
