Yall have friends like that?

It amazes me how negative alot of people are... I have a great life, and am very happy... Im not saying nothing ever has gone wrong, or I dont get stressed, or I didn't have hard points in life.. just my saying is "Best thing in life, is life"... These people who dwell on the negative drive me crazy... There is always someone who has it worse... And everything is what you make it right?

Can you turn a negative person into a positive one? If so how?

I really believe that having a positive attitude goes a long ways to making things better. And that a negative ones make life harder for themselves and everyone else around them.

Yeah, Dante, work enviroment is probably the most effected, and the worse to be around. Work is so much easier and goes by so much faster when people are happy.

+1 ... there are some things in life you just can't change, but moaning about them doesn't help, so why should you even bother...any other aspect of your life, that you can influence, you def. shouldn't complain about: If you don't like it, do something about it instead of bitching and moaning...
Life could be much nicer and easier, if people stopped focussing on all the negative things and started enjoying the positive aspects of their lifes and lived more actively, pursuing their dreams and didn't worry about all the unimportant stuff...

Least you admit it. I can't imagine it's easy to flip the switch so to speak, but I wasn't an overly positive person until I realized how much other negativity brings me down.

Not smart enough to offer advice, but if you're able to youll enjoy life much better.. and those around you will too..

I find it helpful to turn to things I love when Im being negative.. like something as getting hot apple cider... which is my favorite non alcholic drink in the world.. to watching somethign funny like Scrubs reruns... and lately, if I feel I need a reminder how much better I have it than alot of people, I watch Undercover Boss on netflix... my favorite was 7-11 episode, a dude named Igor.. you can just see how a positive spin on life can make a difference. Want to be that guy... and I know I said it once, but I constantly remind myself "best thing in life, is life."

::Cheers::

I like saying "it's what you make of it."

Can't really say I've run across too many examples of people who make themselves out to be the victim of everything. Or I'm just real good at ignoring those people

dwelling on the past only CRIPPLES your future

stay positive $tinky!!!!!

Thanks bro. Its not really that i dwell on the past. I'm just never content. I have the biggest case of "the grass is always greener". I guess I'm ahead of some because i do realize it and have worked (sometimes not as hard as others) to correct it. Its not as easy to just change yourself as some may think.

I must say I admire that you can have such a good attitude. Props to you.

Good thread Defying.

Gay as it sounds, this is why i (semi)-jokingly say the The Secret is my religion.

Positive people attract positive things in their life. Negative people attract the bad shit on themselves. Its the Law of Attraction. As true a universal law as the law of gravity, imo.

Got a good friend who's been negative his whole life since we were kids, despite having a nice fam and a successful career. Here is just some of the bad shit to happen to him:
- knocked up highschool gf
- missed most of senior year football & baseball seasons with different injuries (we were good athletes)
- got hooked on OCs
- got caught stealing his father in laws perscribed OCs
- wife separated then came back
- rehab
- got cancer at 33yrs old
- his little brother just died unexpectedly of meningitis. (horrible btw).

Anyway, this guy is a wildlife biologist and is smart. Just a negative person his whole life, which he got from his parents. Its like the bad shit just snowballs on him. Sucks actually.

Read a ton of sales books/motivational stuff that has gone a long way to making me a positive person. I was always naturally outgoing but thinking positively will change your life. You need to avoid unlucky/negative people like a plague.. if that isnt possible, you need to ignore them. Life is too short to not be happy. There are tons of little things you can do. I have the funniest movie scene I know bookmarked on my computer and if I ever get upset or annoyed by something I just watch that and it brings a smile to my face. Bad things have happened to me in the past.. made some bad decisions.. but overall I try to focus on the best and I've been very fortunate.

i can trace everything that sucks in my life to a series of actions/decisions that i made....sure there's been some bad luck, but at the same time i can easily say even if the bad luck hadn't hit, i was destined for that suckiness through my own bad decisions.....every good thing that's happened has been a result of getting off my ass and working for it.....

i think we're all capable of changing and having the life we envision, but like gambling, it's a marathon and not a sprint.....going to bed tonight and saying "i'm gonna be a brand new man tomorrow" isn't the way to go about it....set easy to achieve goals, work your way up to the more challenging.....smile more often, make more small talk, don't put off easy tasks, throw in a 3rd wipe.....whatever it is that you find yourself lamenting on, attack it with action and not wishes.....

my life went into the shitter not too long ago, some people around me were like, you just spent 8 years in the army, a couple tours overseas, so it's understandable that you're a little fucked up.....that annoyed the hell out of me and is what i believe caused me to sit down and take a good hard look at things.....as a believer in free will, it's important to take responsibility for fucking up and failing, because should the day come when i've hit the big time, it's going to be because i earned it and nobody's gonna take shit away from me....but if i allow myself to blame my problems on outside sources, then it seems a little fucked up to take credit when i succeed.....

at least that's the way i see it....if i wind up a grumpy old man living out his last days forgotten by everybody, then so be it, that's on me....and if i wind up as the successor to hugh hefner then fuck it, i made that shit happen

amen... I think accountability is very important... if you blame others for your mistakes, you are always going to blame that person or event... it's a long term negativity problem... if you take responsibility for your actions, then its something you can work on and make into a positive.. I def think thats a part of it... great point Sooner...

I once gave a "power of positive thinking" speech to a team of employees I had working for me at the time. Best response I ever got from the group in over a year of holding daily meetings. Do some research on it and you'll find some cool stuff.

Best way to change for the better yourself is to find a very positive role model. Never too late to try to change. Haters are a difficult bunch to change. Much ingrained.:toast:
