$10 Million Fake iPods and iPhones Seized in LA; Two Brothers Arrested in Counterfeit Case
February 09, 2011 06:35 AM EST
$10 million worth of fake iPods and iPhones were seized in L.A.! Two brothers were arrested for counterfeit and thousands of the fake devices were confiscated from the downtown L.A. warehouse. The two brothers had been doing well selling their fake iPods and iPhones until the Los Angeles Port Police cracked down on their operation.
Apparently, the fake items looked so authentic. It wasn’t until victims tried to sync their iPods and iPhones with iTunes that they realized there was a problem. The fakes were sold as “replacement parts” from China to the U.S. The two brothers arrested were Bahram Zahab, 45, and Edward Zahab, 40.
Fortunately the LA Port Police have closed down another fake a.k.a. counterfeit scheme. Unfortunately, there are so many more out there, so many more and who knows what the next net of fake iPods and iPhones will yield. Sure, $10 million seems like a massive amount but it’s all relative.
