any recommendations on any place to stay or thing to do there tonite?

I need to be at the Tijuana border thursday morning at 730am, so I was thinking about staying at imperial beach and leaving my car at a hotel and possibly taking a taxi to border.

Any suggestions?

should I just stay in San Diego instead?

I used to live there.

Hotel Circle has some decent places and is about 20 minutes from the border.

Vagabond Inn is not bad. Best Western near there is good.

A lot more going on there and a lot nicer.

What are you looking to pay?

Imperial Beach is not a very nice area. I know when you see beach, you think nice, but it is not.

The waters are so dirty, I don't think there is anywhere to sit on the beach.

***Edit. The border is 20 minutes away from Hotel Circle, not 45.

you can stay pretty much anywhere in SD tonight. Just make sure you're close to the trolley line and take the trolley tomorrow for a few a bucks straight to the border.

i live in dtown sd. stay at the hard rock, or omni, or marriott dtown. all of those are mere steps from petco park and the gaslamp district. plus dtown san diego is right next to the airport. then i'm assuming you will get a rent a car to go to the border, you just hop right on the 5 freeway and it's no more than 15 minutes down the freeway. don't stay in imperial beach, it isn't worth it, as there is so much more to do in dtown sd.

Took the whole family and stayed at this hotel a couple years ago. http://islandpalms.com/index.cfm If I go back anytime soon this is where I'll be staying again. It's on Shelter Island. Looked out one window into the bay and out the other to the marina. Was a couple hundred a night for a suite but well worth it. Relatively close to the Zoo, a couple of the best beaches from the travel channel. [can't remember which ones.] Mission Beach was one, and a lot of really nice restruants. Weather was absolutely perfect.
