Attention Mongering Designer Tries To Capitalize On Egypt Crisis to Sell More Socks, Shoes and Shirts...

San Jose, Costa Rica, February 9th, 2011, Hollywoodsportsbook.com, a leading online entertainment gaming site since 1997, today announced that it has chosen well known fashion designer Kenneth Cole as its latest “Gambler of the Week” for his offensive Twitter tweet that read "Millions are in an uproar in #Cairo. Rumor is they heard our new spring collection is now available online." which was directed to a link to the collection.

Robert Evans, Director of Operations for Hollywood says, I like Kenneth Cole…it is a must stop when visiting the local Multi-Plaza Mall but “What the hell was he thinking? I myself have been accused of taking advantage of worthy news events and people to create PR for my company, but to try to hijack an entire countries’ population who are fighting for their very well being and future of their country and families, just to sell some wardrobe is absurd….Even for my lowly standards”

The offensive tweet touched off an online flash mob and inspired a fake Twitter feed that mocked Cole's original while attracting thousands of followers on the micro-blogging site in a matter of hours with such as “Wardrobe got you water-BORED? GITMO of our new spring collection” and "Rolling through Germany? Gestapo by our new Berlin store!" and "Jeffrey Dahmer would have eaten up our spring collection!"

Cole did later take the Tweet down and apologize via Twitter and Facebook with this statement “I apologize to everyone who was offended by my insensitive tweet about the situation in Egypt. I've dedicated my life to raising awareness about serious social issues, and in hindsight my attempt at humor regarding a nation liberating themselves against oppression was poorly timed and absolutely inappropriate,"

“I admire his attempt at an apology but the reason we chose Mr. Cole is that he gambled big time with the profits and good will of his company in a time when retail is still suffering heavily since the economic crisis. Doesn’t he realize that he cannot take this back? Once it is in Cyber Space, good luck…His reputation is now permanently tarnished for which he will probably end up closing stores, laying off people at those stores and probably some kids working in Asian sweat shops adding to the world’s unemployment rate.

“I don’t think this is the ‘Reaction” Mr. Cole hoped for with this.” Evans concludes.

For being chosen as our “Gambler of the Week,” Hollywood is awarding Mr. Cole with a $500 wagering account which we hope he can run up to thousands in order to pay for some professional “spin masters,” says Ms. Nicki Smith, Hollywood’s Public Relations manager.

Additionally Hollywood has a special promotion in honor of Mr. Cole. Sign up and make a deposit with them and they will give you an extra 20% Free Cash Bonus to use on their site using promo code GOW20.
