I think sports talk radio is dull and worthless.

I tried listening to an episode of the Jim Rome show when I had to take a short road trip a while
back. It was on the only station I could pick up as I was traveling thru the Columbia River Gorge.

All these marks and squares calling in reading "takes" from prepared notes, cue cards, Etc, so they would not
forget a point or forget to say something that was on their minds, sounded so robotic, contrived, staged and
just plain mind numbing. There is no natural flow to that. It's like being with an author doing a book reading at
Powells Books or Barnes and Nobles.

The one bright spot to the show is when they did the comedy bits with the fake faxes and e-mails that the listeners
send in. A lot of those were really funny and made up for the different callers that call in and read from a piece of paper
in front of them.

Yeah nothing they say has anything to do with how I bet a game. I listen to it in the morning on the way to work for entertainment. Has no more bearing on how I bet than if I was watching American Idol before placing a wager. Agree though if one is making picks based on what they're saying on ESPN they are a square

where is bruce jacobs at now?

Bruce quit Fox Radio and was hired by the Sporting News Network and was fired by them in December.

The reason I liked Bruce was because he told it like it is about the Yankees and Barry Bonds.

Some of the things he said about the Skanks and Bondsy were priceless. I am surprised he did not get trouble with the things he said about them.

We had Colin Cowherd here in Portland doing a local show before he got his break with ESPN.

He was really popular here. I felt his strengths were exploited better here and his weaknesses hid better
during his time in Portland. We have a guy named John Canzano who someday could make the jump to
ESPN if he so chose to.

I couldn't find sports radio more annoying. Its not as bad when its more of a forum for callers to give opinions but when you have to listen to radio hosts go on and on about the same thing daily, it gets annoying. Also sick of radio hosts thinking they are so much smarter than callers just because they don't agree on a certain point. Just a bunch of donks with inflated egos. Nothing worse than hearing 4 hours of why the Redskins suck talk
