I had to get a new tire for my mountain bike today and while I was waiting on the guy to mount it on the rim, I walked around the store just browsing and spotted a custom racing bike with a price tag of $3500. I asked the guy why it was so much and he went into his pitch about how it had custom made parts and components etc and some bikes can even go for $10,000. I was speechless. I paid $13 for the new tire and tube and hit the road. Thinking baout it now, I can see how a racing bike would be more expensive, but I would have never dreamed of the price tags on some of these things.

Great Point BetAll. The guy was just like "Oh yeah it is worth that much". It must be like a Corvette of bikes. Just floored me though.

i have a Cervelo that is around 6k.

if that is your thing, well worth the money.

Exactly... I use to race back in the late 80's- 90's and back then I had a $600 Bianci, that I loved.. I would love to get my hands on one of the toys they have out these days; they basically shift themselves. If your not into it, you can't understand, just like some people are into cars etc etc.. these things cost money.

It's just like anything else, if you get use out of it and enjoy it who cares how much it cost.
It all comes down to personal interests and satisfaction. On a side note, no damn way I would pay 3500 for a bike. Maybe 350.

high end anything is costly

$3500 for a bicycle

a car could be 200k +

maybe $3500 for a Superbowl ticket

A painting, coin, stamp, jewelry etc. could cost millions

some people might pay $3500 for a pair of shoes, suit, etc.

$3500 for a top end bicycle seems OK to me.....esp. if that is your hobby and you use it often.
