Some Books Have Leaks Out There!

Got a call an hour ago from someone claiming to be Bookmaker. They told me about a "special" 100% bonus for a $100 deposit. The call came from a Cunard Lines number which I've received calls from before, usually from BETPOP. But this time they claimed they were Bookmaker.

Anyway, I gave them my Visa card number for the deposit. A few minutes later, another man representing himself as "Mannys" supervisor asked for my Verified by Visa name. When I gave it to him, he said the deposit went through and my money would be in my account in 15 minutes. About a half hour later I went to my Bookmaker account. When no money was there, I used Live Chat to get an explanation. They said they had no record of the transaction or no Manny or Fernando that worked there. I then checked all my sports books accounts and no money was deposited anywhere.

I'll put a block on the charge by my bank so I'm not worried about it. But if you get a call from Cunard Lines 305-459-3535 BEWARE!!!

But the only explanation is that someone at some book is stealing information and using it for their benefit. I've already posted a thread on how some book stole my CC info and made some charges offshore at a gift shop in the Carribean and hotel rooms in Panama. The ONLY explanation is that someone on the inside is stealing info!!!!

Just make sure that the person that calls you has your account number for the proper book. By the way, the charge comes up as a Stockholm charge.

yea U NEED to CANCEL the card... blocking a charge isnt enough in this situation... the ole saying goes "shame me once ...shame on you" "shame me twice... shame on me" so in this case two occurrences with your cc is TWO too MANY. Have the whole account number changed. Scan your computer for trackers/trojans.. and get urself a new acct rep at bookmaker. lol

I scan my Pc regularly. I don't think it's coming from that. Just plain old theft from an offshore book.

So I shouldn't give my credit card information to a stranger who calls me. Good to know.

So it turns out it wasn't a scam at all. It was Bookmakers "other" half....DSI...that was making the call. After going through every sports book that I had listed on my bookmarks, I got an email from DSI this morning verifying my deposit. Why they IDed themselves as Bookmaker rather than Bet DSI is beyond me.

Still I recommend never giving out your credit card or ss# over the phone unless you initiated the call.

So that I understand this...some random guy calls you and says "hey I'm Manny, give me your credit card number" and you do it?

What in the world is wrong with some of you guys?

Turns out I couldn't report it on Monday as it was the holiday and banks were closed, even their customer service. The next day I got the email so there was no need to call any longer.

I don't give out my CC information so easily. I recognized the Cunard Lines number so I knew it was a sports book. When I said Bookmaker, they never corrected me to say they were DSI. If I had DSI bookmarked, I would have found out right away. But since I hadn't used them in a while, and I had bought a new PC, they weren't bookmarked.
