I haven't played much LIVE poker. But from what I have studied thus far, if you play tight and have patience and money management you can do quite well against the weekend warriors in Vegas.

I thought about adding this to my arsenal in Vegas, but still need to study up more on it.

Any recommendations on a good poker read that can get you the knowledge needed to get started

i would think card counting would be a consistent way to grind out profits where the swings in poker can last for a long time, ive read poker blogs from some top online players and they can have 100k hand stretches of breakeven poker etc.....its just one of those things

Low limit poker. Wouldn't even think it would be close. There is nothing consistent about counting cards, LMAO.

I used to do a lot of card counting, with road trips hitting certain casinos.

The state of blackjack has degraded so much in the last 10 years. It's a lot harder to make money counting than it used to be.

Between the shuffle machines, lack of penetration, BJ pays 5-4, and pit heat - it's just not worth it any more
(at least for the relatively low rollers).

The strongest arguments seem to show that skilled poker play has a much lower variance than the other casino advantage games (counting, video poker). But then ot all comes down to the skill level and how you define "low limit" (aren't most the supposed beatable games no-limit?)

For myself, using a low spread and adding points into profits, blackjack is pretty consistent. If you're going to play for free rooms, both is the way to go. Casinos are far less wary of players who spread their action to a lot of games than those who only play BJ for hours

doesn't matter how the drunks play. I always start the count -1, unless they let me see the burn card.

You're not gonna get rich spreading $10-$100, but you can grind out some money back counting.
