I'm real interested in hearing about some of the most brutal sports betting losses of people's careers. My top two are that Stanford-ASU game earlier this year where the Stanford RB took a knee at the 4 yard line and the under in a Mavs-Thunder game earlier this year where Durant handed Carlisle the ball instead of running out the clock, resulting in a Deshawn Stevenson 3 to push it over at the buzzer.

indiana vs iowa in football a few years back. Had Indiana +17 for the game and Indiana was up 24-14 going into 4th qtr and Iowa won the 4th quarter 28-0 to win by 18 and cover by 1. last score came with a bomb pass by iowa with under 2 mins left in the game and they were already up 10+

I cant remember the year but it was a 4:00 NFL game between Houston/Tenn and Seattle. I was getting 6.5 with the Oilers/Titans. With 4 seconds left in regulation Del Greco lines up for a game winning FG that gets blocked and returned for TD and Seattle wins by 7.

I will never forget that game as long as I live.

That's unbelievable what a nightmare. Last year I was one of many who had the Steelers -4.5 against the Chargers as the last leg of a 4 game parlay where that game was the final leg of a potentially big win. I'm sure a lot of you remember what happened with Polamalu and the touchdown that was disallowed for no apparent reason

Many years back, 2005 i think, i had a 5 teram parlay that would have me winning $2500. The other 4 games hit so i had just one to go. I had GS Warriors -2. They were blowing the other team out at halftime by about 30 points. Looked golden. Well, the 4th qtr comes around and GS scored only 2 points the whole 4th qtr sending it into OT!!!! Never seen ANYTHING like it. Well the other team goes on to win and i lose.

Woww I just read about this game, looks like the Mavs also put up a 2 spot in '97. How excruciating was watching Erick Dampier is this game? I think he's the last guy I want with the ball in his hands with a bet hanging in the balance.

I never sweat one game, I'm a flat bettor, so any loss is the same to me. I don't even watch my NBA bets. One time though I went 0-10 in one night, 2 months worth of winnings gone in one day was brutal. took a couple days off after that one.

found this.....

What is the fewest points scored by an NBA team in a quarter?

abar_a.gif

As of March 19, 2008 the NBA record for fewest points in a quarter is 2 set by the Dallas Mavericks in 1997 and the Golden State Warriors in 2004.

How would you like to be on the wrong end of that fun fact? i was pissed!!!

That's exactly what I read yeah, found this espn link to the game summary too... http://es.pn/eoGh
These quotes from the Warriors really don't reflect a 2 point quarter to lose a game at all, Cheaney actually said "We just got relaxed and weren't moving the ball like we should have in the fourth quarter." Like after 6 or 7 minutes it didn't occur to anyone on the team to stop relaxing and score some freakin points?

Indy/chicago superbowl... I either had a huge AR or teaser (guessing it was an AR), with the colts and over, and when dungy went for it on 4th down at the end of the game instead of kicking the FG, I lost it. Couldn't believe it.

I had a big bet on Michigan -4 if I remember right

1994Colorado vs. Michigan: Down by 5 points, with 6 seconds to play, #7 Colorado lined up in a formation called 'Jets' - 4-wideouts with Trips left. Colorado quarterback Kordell Stewart had good protection, dropped back to the CU 27, scrambled a bit, and heaved the ball 73 yards in the air down to the opposing 1-yard line. The play, known as 'Rocket Left', called for Michael Westbrook to tip the ball into the end zone for backup wideout Blake Anderson, but it was in fact Anderson in the middle of a cluster of players who tipped it to Westbrook for a 64-yard touchdown pass on the last play of the game. Colorado won 27-26, and the play (which Colorado had also run at the end of the first half, resulting in #4 Michigan intercepting it) became known as “The Miracle at Michigan” and took home an ESPY for College Football Play of the Year.[

One of my worst ever losses was at the very beginning of the college football season this past year... Villanova vs UMass. I had Villanova +5. Nova goes up by 8 early in the 4th w/ a TD pass to make it 21-13. With 6:30 remaining UMass cuts into the lead with a FG, making it 21-16 Nova. With 4:00 min to go, UMass scores a TD and fails the 2 pt attempt, making it 22-21 UMass. With 1:51 left, Nova hits a FG, making it 24-22 Nova. UMass puts together a nice final drive and gets in FG range in the waning seconds. UMass hits the FG, making it 25-24 UMass with 0:03 on the clock. UMass kicks off, and Nova of course begins lateralling. During this process, there were probably 2-3 forward laterals committed by Nova. Flags were flying all over the field, but the game is still live apparently, kind of like when the DEF is offsides and the offense gets a Bonus Play. Finally a UMass guy running full speed steps in front of one of the laterals and waltzes into the house. The commentators even said something like, "There are flags all over the field, but it won't matter, this game is over," before the play was finished because of the shit load of forward laterals. They announced the final as 25-24 UMass & the broadcast immediately cut off... the game was on ESPN or ESPN2. I pulled up the gamecast on my phone, and it was showing a 25-24 final. I checked ScoresAndOdds, and it had a 25-24 final.

I continue eating my lovely dinner with my girlfriend, thinking I had hit my only play of the night (it was a very slow sports day, hence why it was on ESPN in primetime in the first place). It must have been about 2-3 hours later when I got home and flipped on some Sportscenter, and I noticed the bottom line showed a 31-24 UMass final. Basically the refs convened after the broadcast had cut off & after the announcers said the wrong final. The final TD counted and I was in utter disbelief. I've taken worse beatings as far as crazy shit happening at the end of a game... but to combine that craziness with the fact that the f'ing final score was incorrectly announced/posted on multiple websites, it was just such a devastating loss.

I had the under lol

Ive had a lot of nba unders that have gone over because of last minute 3's or stupid fouls to put someone on the line for no reason.
Im not sure off the top of my head what one was the worst, I can remember a lot of bad poker hands tho

That Colts/Bucs MNF game was a major kick in the balls. If I recall correctly TB blew a 21 point lead with like 4 minutes left in the game. This was back when their defense was regarded as the bast in the game too. Adding insult to injury was when Vanderjagt missed a FG in overtime, giving TB bettors a glimmer of hope, but sure enough there was a flag on the field for a TB player jumping on the back of another for leverage (rarely if ever called). Second chance for FG and game over. Such a bad loss, I didn't even really get very upset, I just laughed. I have to imagine that a few chasers on TB may have committed suicide after that game.

This years Bama/Auburn game.

Even though Auburn was coming back hell was still getting points.

How could such a solid team(defending champs) fold like a tent on their home field like that?

I was in complete shock, I think that was the biggest fluke loss of any of these at least somethin like a last second hail mary is a natural part of the game...
