I am not becoming a health nut, yet, I am just trying to make simple, smarter choices. It's been almost a week, and I already feel better about myself.

Still, I am trying to figure out How many calories Max should you ear per meal?

If it's based on size I am 6'2 250lbs. I feel like a good size for me is 215. I don't expect to get there by just eating better, but I know its a necessary step. In High School I was always the too skinny guy, was 170. In college all I did was drink, eat whatever, and I didn't do anything to work out. Obviously my weight has gotten out of control, and I don't think it will be too tough to get it back in control. I am doing it in babysteps.

RX has always been a great help regardless of the subject. Buts thats the reason behind these recent health questions.

Thanks guys

Easiest way is to use a calorie calculator...

Just put in age, height, weight, and exercise level and it will tell you how many calories to take in per day.

http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm

Its easier to do calories per week btw. That way if have eat more on fri and sat when you are out or something you can eat less calories on a monday et.

I weighed 240 a year ago or so and I know weigh 180. I became a vegetarian and now only eat once a day most of the time. I consume about 1200-1500 calories. It will take time but don't get discouraged you can get healthy and lose weight and keep it off. I went kind of nuts with an entire lifestyle change but to me it was worth it. I turn 50 tomorrow and am in the best shape I have ever been in and trust me I was a train wreck a few years back. I am at the gym every day at 7AM and trust me it is hard but it is becoming a habit for me.

holy sh*t harrington. No way would I ever go vegetarian. Congrats to you and all you accomplished. Thats amazing you were able to do that in a years time. That calculator says I can eat up 2000 Calories a day. I think im averaging 1800 right now.

I LOVE FOOD. And I am ok with that. I just want to make better choices. I even love salads.

I honestly don't think you could lose much weight just by eating better could you?? I see you can lose 1-2lbs a week by eating better, but I imainge you plateau eventually. Maybe someone could better explain this better.

depends on how active you are IMO. I'm 6 foot weigh 180 and I eat 2000 calorie meals sometimes. I have a job that requires me to be very active though

Also,

what about sushi? Is that healthy?

I think so, it's my favorite food to eat, and I always feel great after eating it instead of feeling like shit when I eat fast food

Yes you can loose weight by diet only. Many people that exercise don't lose weight b/c working out a lot can make you really hungry which will lead you to eat more... As long as you burn more calories then you take in you will lose weight...

Sushi is good... but if you want to lose weight eat the rolls that do not have crap like mayo or cream cheese...

I just like eating the fish by itself. Yellowtail is the best.

I usually eat all 6 (1500 calories) or is it 8 (2040)? PLUS a salad

It says theres a lot of mayo in Cali Roll, I didn't know that, the other rolls are better.

Gotcha... I eat all sorts of Sushi. If you just go with the fish then you have nothing to worry about. I think many eat rolls... Just wanted to point out to avoid the ones with mayo and cream cheese...

I would say you don't really need more than 1,000 calories for any single meal. For a normal sized person 2,000 calroes per day is a pretty good yardstick.

Just have to look at the menu and make wise decisions. I love spicy tuna rolls... Less then 300 calories for 8 of them...

Don't eat stuff with tempura also... Go with the raw fish if possbile.. Also, try to avoid the rolls with sauce...

CA rolls no mayo
spicy tuna rolls
veggie rolls
Salmon rolls
miso soup

This is not correct. It is 255 for the entire roll (6 or 8 peices) not 1 piece of the roll.
