Royal Palm South beach---question?

I am taking the girlfriend away for the week... a trip for 2 with flight and hotel cost me 1900 dollars which i think is a lot for miami, plus the fact i need to buy drinks and dinner etc etc... anyway i figured this would be a nice hotel, pics looked great.... then i read reviews on yahoo, expedia, tripadvisor.com. and 99% of the reviews were bad, very veryyyy bad reviews... we arrive tomorrow at 9am our flight is at 6am.. i have no idea what to do i figured for the cost it would be a nice hotel..

anyone know about this hotel? is there any chance i can go there and see the grimey ass room and get upgraded if i complain? do i cancel when i get there and try to find another hotel elsewhere? what do i do? i am embarrassed that i have to take her to this shithole... i even asked people im friends with about this place that live down there, they said 'no comment just bring your own sheets and make sure your door is bolted shut at night'

I never heard of it and I asked a couple of other people but it's in a good location - I dont see how it could that much of a dive - it's right next to the Delano, Shore Club, National - there no more total dive hotels on Collins - maybe overpriced though

I've seen it, but really don't know it.....

Can't be that bad, right near Lincoln rd. so you are in the Middle of Everything.

and like Seymour said, Nothing is bad on Collins... just Overpriced

hhmmmmm..... k thanks but its just weird that every review (over 73 of them that i actually read) all said the same thing, stains on floor and wall, crust on bed, horrible customer service... I hope its not that bad or i will start throwing down in the hotel lobby till i get what i want...
