I have used matchbook for several years and it has been my number one choice all along. Obviously, this will no longer be possible. I will be looking for something comparable to replace it. Any suggesrtions? Anything as little as a list of web sites of exchanges comparable to matchbook but available to US clients will be greatly appreciated.

I think most of US Matchbook business will eventually go to Betmaker. Will take time, though.

5dimes offers reduced juice on all sports as well as a nickel overnight baseball line... hard to beat.

"5Dimes is by far one of the best books on the net," according to a popular online sports betting forum

Good enough for me lol

I personally like BetJam , Simple easy and never a withdrawal problem

Maybe I did not make it sufficiently clear but I am looking for an exchange where, among other things, I can place offers. Neither BetJam nor 5dimes, excellent books in their own right but not exchanges, with both of which I already have accounts are what I am interested in.

Anyone ever have any problems with 5dimes? I'm not crazy about Betjm's baseball lines.

There will be a new exchange coming soon.......stay tuned.

Let's hope it comes quickly.

Blackie and rebatewager , Fish ?

I don't think Betmaker can succeed , CRIS will get too greedy with it, like they always do.

Greek is about the only place that could pull it off.

Why did Matchbook withdraw? What plans do they have to make them cut out the US market?

You can't believe a word they say, the " new owners" blame it on their lawyer's advice.

It seems WSEX actually owned MB until yesterday.

I think MB had a negative value to WSEX, as in to sell it they would have to include some cash ( that they don't have) to the buyer.

Perhaps they " sold" it to some holding company run by Jay Cohen, stiff everybody and then WSEX pays off they people they owe and tries to comeback ?

That's a wild guess but I wouldn't trust MB if I were Asian, European, Canadian, Vulcan, etc.

Who benefits most with MB gone ?

I think every book is glad to see them go. ( if they pay everybody)

5Dimes seems to benefit most (immediately) for those wanting -105, should be great for Betjam's baseball handle too ! CRIS might benefit if they can get Betmaker going.

Whoever bought wants to destroy it and fast....It would be good for those owed if CRIS bought it, at least you'd get paid.

It's all guesswork on my part, but this place can't function dealing to Europeans that have Betfair and others to use for their kickball bets.

You'd think with all the technology Americans could find a way to use Betfair. You can set up a proxy address to make it look like you're in Europe.

totally agree here. can't you rent a p.o. box in canada or europe and make it work?

sad to hear about matchbook today. i see 5dimes benefiting the most in the short term....

I'm sure one could use Betfair, many find ways to use Pinny from the US. I haven't looked much at Betfair, but they seem to have been higher than MB in fees. I think Betfair charges less as your volume goes up ( ?). I won't risk trying to get in where I know I shouldn't be.

I think you need a little more than that, like...

a Canadian bank account, utility bill, maybe a D/L. Obviously you have to be betting big to do this stuff.

another way is a VERY trusted Canadian friend that you give a cut.

I'm sure there are guys here that do it.

Tell me why Matchbook can't transfer with places like 5D, Betjam, Pinny, etc anymore ?

I'll tell you why they cut it off themselves..... all of these places would have halted transfers immediately this AM anyway. Why would Tony, Spiro, etc. want MB to owe them BIG money ( or any money at all) as Matchbook gets sold like off scrap metal from a crackhead ?

You can't tell me the lawyers for Matchbook ( in Antigua, I believe) are worried about what the US gov't thinks about them transferring monies with other bookies in CR, Jamaica, etc.

I think you guys will be lucky to get paid !

It says MB account holders will be contacted with precise instructions and given 31 days by which they must make a one-time withdrawal of all balances held on the Matchbook betting exchange. Will I ever see the 373 I have there, what are the odds?

I don't see why you won't get paid just maybe not the way you want the money back. I don't think they'd waste the time to send out their multiple emails if they weren't planning on paying all customers. Most would prefer a b2b transfer, but that doesn't seem to be an option. Given that I've got $1 remaining in my account, I think I'll let them keep it.

I think I read they will pay credits earned within the last 3 months or so. That should be a minor issue for most. I got out months ago when they stopped taking deposits via normal means.
