I would think that a lot of the smaller ones would be in trouble without the NFL. I just don't see how they could replace the the Sunday action.

How do you know the two biggest games would be moved to Sunday/Monday? That seems kinda drastic. It makes sense but its a big change for a short time.

That being said, I doubt NFL locks out/

The vast majority will plug on.

Lots of sports out there that generate income for books, and with soccer wagering becoming more and more popular every month, many smart books are improving their soccer offers.

I would think the exact opposite. The big books with lots of overhead and employees seems to me would be hurt worse than say an old Cascade that was run out of a 2 story garage apt by 3 people tops...

lets all hope like in any industry there is no work stoppage..remember the players are a large part but there are many people who work for the stadiums and clubs who would be greatly affected..during the last work stoppage there were replacement players and there were lots of wagers on those games..the networks would change college to be played on sundays to fix programming gaps..it wouldnt be good, but the action will go on..

I disagree 100% about big games being moved to Sunday.

I realize degenerates love to play tv games and i also know that the handles on Mon. nite games is usually bigger than an individual sunday game , but how is changing a game from Sat. to Sun. going to increase the betting handle enough to suppliment the loss of the NFL ? ... The handle might be slightly bigger but not big enough to replace an entire NFL card.

I'm also QUITE sure that the SEC , ACC , and other conferences in the bible belt will NOT be moving games to Sunday , maybe some smaller conferences if they get tv deals might.

I'm also pretty sure that the NCAA doesnt give a rip about Vegas and offshore sports books , they might be willing to help a network , but the Fox network doesnt carry games on Saturday anyway.

... lol i can see it now - "Hello BIG 1O conference , this is Vegas calling , could you move games to Sunday to help us out since the NFL is locked out ?" ... sheesh where do y'all dream this stuff up ?

U gotta be kidding right? Its not like the school.would be moving games to help Vegas upfront. We all know this biz is about money...these schools drool over the money involved in one bowl game. Can u iagine the money the school will make for replacing Sunday and monday nite primetime...we are talking major advertising and investment dollars for these school. Its not always about "watching a game" but it IS always about money!

I agree with Ty. I don't see college games going to Sundays. There is alot more into college games tham just switching it to a sunday. What about all the alumni that come into town for the games. They want to see the games on sat not sunday. Also they just could not do it so easily without knowing when the NFL would comeback.

You degenerate gamblers think that everything is about gambling but its not.

Be a great time to take a trip. Kids are in school and with the exception of hurricanes the weather is great.

No i'm not kidding. These teams , conferences , and networks already have contracts in place. NBC or Fox can't just declare that they're going to replace NFL programming with college. (well nbc could move N.D. games to sunday , but why?) and with the lock out being most likely temporary , nobody is going to be making and breaking contracts between now and September for something that would only be for a year.

I will say this though , i DO think ESPN will try to replace Monday Night Football with a college game , but i say no to SEC on CBS on Sundays.

murph is right...they will move college games to sunday....it is all about money and if tv money is as big as it gets.........it may be ut st nmex and it wont take the place of nfl.....but that game on sunday at 400 pm est will handle about 20fold what it would have gotten at 1015 est saturday night no tv

I didnt say it would be two HUGE teams from a power conference... look how many games fill the week between Mac teams/ wac teams.. etc

to see its not all about gambling is crazy.. u think they schedule these weekly games in just out of coincidence??? the tues/wed/thurs/fri games are all cuz football bettors need something to bet on all week long and those games become fairly LARGE bet games on those days.. if they were in middle of saturday, few would notice...

Bottom LINE...

all those teams would GLADLY play on MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL :D

especially when ur talking bout millions of dollars for the school if they accept and millions+ lost for espn if they dont get schools to agree.

The NFL will play as scheduled, too much money at stake.

Oh ok that's cool , i just misunderstood your first post about the biggest games.

I agree as i said that there may be some small conf schools like c-usa or mtn west that get tv deals , but even that would strictly be the netwoks (that dont carry nfl) exploiting the available sunday. ... It has nothing , nada , zilch , zero to do with sportsbooks.

I agree. Just way too much money at stake for both sides to stop the season. Nobody knows what exactly one year without NFL football would do to the Books. But judging by the popularity of the sport on the NFL RX forum alone, it could be a disaster of epic proportions.

I agree with murph, that games will be moved to sunday. It's not about appeasing vegas and offshore, it's about networks making money and money talks.

I know a player that has been in the meetings. Talked to him 2 days ago. According to him, he believes this will be settled in the next 2 weeks.
The owners are backing down on a lot of there demands. The 18 game season is also almost 100% off the table to.

The billion dollar split is the only thing they are fighting over now.

The owners want more, the players want less.

if you are that worried take some winnings out of your book and play with the rest or what you feel comfortable with. I know some here do this for a living but, you can always get a real job for a yeat to replace it until NFL comes back then restrict the avalibility to not be availible weekends if they force you to
