the tigers brought somebody in to be w/him all the time now. just like the rangers do w/josh hamilton. he's prob a good guy, but give him some liquor....that shit was pretty crazy.
terrible spring for him on the diamond too. 35.5 is prob abt right, but there is the chance, like u say, that he could be a train wreck. so under is the fav, imo.
by the way, you have my fav avatar on this site.

one thing i didn't really think of, is that the tigers picked up victor martinez, who is a very decent bat, that will be a player to give cabrera protection. that move def helped cabrera. cabrera was a badass last yr, and when magglio broke his ankle, cabrera was intl walked a bunch after that.

good point. my bet was based on the possibility that this guy will be dealing with off the field issues throughout the year... we shall see

cabrera should've been arrested for making terrorist threats, if the news stories are true. he was threatening to kill people. drunk or not, he broke the law. if he didn't have so much money, that would be enof to be deported. bet if it was a dominican player from class aa that pulled these stunts, he would be deported. i'm not positive if he is a usa citizen. nor do i know if he wasn't charged w/other things besides the dui. no prob w/leyland. but i think there will be a huge prob if anything like this happens again w/selig and the new sheriff in town, joe torre.

He's bee dealing with these for years and it hasn't affected his on-field performance that much. It has a lot to do with cultural differences on how americans and latins see drinking, 80% of latins would be labeled as alcoholic in the US but i do believe his drinking is excesive even for latin standards. Nevertheless 35 is about right given that in 2009 he was dealing with this same issue and he hit 34 HR, now he's dealing with it again but has a lot more protection.

Come on David Wells said he threw a perfect game drunk.

i thought he said, 'hungover'.

i just read an article and there are no charges from his threats at the restaurant. lucky mofo. this could've easily ended up like a plexico burress situation.
