Thought I had heard it all until what got dropped on me this morning

Took my 15 year old daughter to the local community college so she could take some test that would allow her to take a college course this summer.

I am sitting in this open area outside the testing room waiting.

2 girls about 10 feet from me start talking about their friend who has just had a baby.

They were pronouncing the name as " Shith-eed "

After about 5 minutes , I couldnt take it anymore... I had to know..

I said how did your friend spell her baby's name...

Much to my lack of surprise ... The one girl says " S-H-I-T-H-E-A-D "

I could only reply , " what a lovely name "

I used to use that as a password at some books....

one place requested that I change it.

summer school sucks, most 15 year olds would want to be at the pool, hanging with friends, or working a part time job...i wonder if they were messing with you on the spelling or if they spelled it wrong themselves

lets get one thing straight .. she is a straight A student in the hardest program any high school can offer. She is taking a calculus class there so she can take an even harder class her senior year.

she doesnt have to do this.. she wants to.

she wont be " hanging around " a community college ....

this class wont have any effect on what college she'll get into .. she's already made her mind up . she's going to columbia .

She wants to work in the Neuroscience field.. She figures their is gonna forever be fucked up people in the world to work on...

That's pretty shallow considering the upside taking classes at a CC has.

But hey, if money is no issue, go ahead and pay $750 a credit for Psych 101 at the finest school in the country.

It is still my password for one book I go back to on occasion. I should change it, it was maybe funny 5-6 years ago, now it's embarrasing if I have to call C/S. I used it at other books too, I use less than 5-10 of my former 150+ books ( many are gone). It was a good password for a bonus whore.....and it was an affectionate nickname from a former female co-worker.

the other guy claimed my kid would be hanging around a CC . she is taking 1 class there .

she set a goal in 9th grade to do everything she could to get accepted at columbia . is that ok with you ? she'll score some major scholarships .

lol this thread got turned around, I think he was talking to me thinking I was putting down community college but I was really just referring to letting a 15 year olds be around college age kids and how I wouldn't be okay with that. But I thought we were talking about some average kid who wanted to take a class not some HS kid trying to go to an Ivy League school.... Doubtfully Shithead ever gets into Columbia or his application even gets a look.

I'm confident that #1's genius daughter can handle herself in a CC. It's probably good to get her around older students. It's CC not like there are dorms and such. If she wants to have a B/F and start getting into Sex....she will do it, anyways !

As long as she isn't in a dangerous place, I say no problem.
