big win by uconn over pitt today but this big east tourney set up is ridiculous when a team has to win 5 games in 5 days!

I still think Pitt and especially Kemba are extremely overrated.

Notre Dame only has to play 3 games to win it all. Play better during the regular season and you will get a double bye. However I agree with you and that is why teams often don't give their best efforts as it is usually a better idea to lose early like Pitt just did. Ohio State would be better off also if they had lost today. They tried ! Ohio State would be a number 1 seed even if they had lost. I think Notre Dame will get the other number 1 seed ahead of Pitt.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but don't schools receive a substantial amount prize money if they win the conference tournament? These games are big games for the schools, and the coaches know these games mean ALOT for the school.

Teams certainly aren't tanking these games, even if it would help them in the big dance.

As for the five games in five days, It is a bit much, but what else can they do? :think2:

As Kermit said, play better earlier in the year and you won't have that problem.

maybe do a mon/tues to play it down to 8 teams. take wed. off then go thur/fri/sat from there? 5 games/5days = askin waaaaaay too much for one team.

Sorry , I was meaning to make a point that teams that have already wrapped up a Number 1 seed in the Big Dance actually are better off if they lose their opening game. Kansas and Ohio State were the 2 teams that have number 1 seeds already in the bag. Kansas was who I was referring to but somehow I had Ohio State on my mind. Kansas almost lost to Ok. State yesterday and they probably would have been better off if they had lost. Me bad ! You are correct that Ohio State plays today and will hopefully win the Big 10 Tournament as I have them at + 150 to win it !

CT should have won more games in the regular season and they wouldnt have to have played 5 games in 5 days.

The system is what it is, no sense in arguing about it. 3 of the 4 teams with double byes advanced, so having a double bye wasnt a detriment this year.

Should be a good game tonight.
