I don't see it. 90% of the time ( it seems) I'll buy in for $10 get the "Free" Heineken and try to double it to $20 and I have zero credits after two sips off of the beer. Granted I don't search out the elusive machine with a theoretical 100.213469 % payback that might exist at Vegas World ( Strat tower place now) or the one machine at some obscure dump.

i love video poker but i have gotten crushed playing it lately. Have not hit a royal in over 2 years. The variance can be a bitch in that game

Only Fishhead can beat that game ! If you're not FH it costs at least $100/ hour to fast play quarter VP .

The Shvt is rigged, or at least has been in the past ( American coin).

I love VP and have hit at least 20 RF's in the last year alone. I don't play slots.

Most everyone knows you're joking, or at least I know.

penny machines at the gas station and grocery store are truly great values. Just spend a few minutes asking a couple questions to the old ladies at the desk and you can eat candy and drink soda and coffee for less than 25-cents per hour

Just look around in Vegas, they didn't build all those nice casinos paying everybody out in the slots. Slot machines IMO are for suckers. BJ has gotten tougher to beat too and isn't worth the time IMO. Poker and sports are the only things left that are worth the time, although I suck at poker and wont play that either.

Texansfans - I remember some of your screenshots you posted of the RF hits at 5dimes casino.....epic :103631605

I personally never play any casino games, but i've heard video poker can be beaten by around 0.1% by a player who plays his cards right...

Yea, I find value in them - the value being the entertainment I get from playing them. I think some of you have no sense of money management at all...why even play them or VP if you are only going to bitch when you lose out on a $20 spot. Just pay for the damn beer and save us all your bitching.

Plenty of value to be found in VP but you absolutely must know what you're doing.

Precisely.........same with slots also.

PROMOS often times provide the big edge.

Just played a promo two months ago in Biloxi that netted me thousands........there are many all over the country.

Casino in St Louis just gave everyone a free 500 dollar roll last weekend.......free shot at hitting something big or cashing out with a small profit.

never was EZ winning at vp in Vegas
tougher than ever now.
promo's get canceled as soon as management realizes its too good of a deal.
you dont even need to do your research to find out where the good machines are: just go to the crappiest off strip properties you can find and look for the one bank of machines with every seat full of rocks that play multiple machines for up to 24 hours at a time. all trying to beat the casino for the 0.01 +ev that variance has left them close to broke by chasing.

I'm staying at the Silverton, and have pushed the progressive royal from $5300-6950 almost all by my self. Last night some yahoo's come in late at night, and she gets the royal DEALT to her.

My friends and I have done very well for many years............and will continue to do so.

Not trying to disclaim what you're saying, as there are many that do lose that think they can make it...........but for the few in the know and do know precisely what they are doing, the rewards are worth the efforts.

For me, value--NO, addiction--YES.

I can't make a trip to Vegas without easily dropping a grand or two in slots and VP. No wonder the casinos want me to have three free nights plus other incidentals....SUCKER!

At least with sports betting I am also able to watch the games, not just watching a group of silly looking shapes spinning on a video screen or wheels on a machine.....NOW I got the itch to go to AC or CT this weekend, uh oh.

Well 3 years ago from like 1998-2007 there was alot of value in high limit slots on the east coast. Also high end hotels in Vegas . I would play 25$-$100 slots 3-5 times a year with a 25k bank roll. Most 2-3 day trips to fooxwoods or bellagio I would end up ahead or only down less than 5 grand. Alot of trips I would be up 25-50 k. You would have to be willing to put in 2-3k on a slot to hit jackpots from 2500-50k on 25$ slots. On 100$ slots you have to be willing to spend 5k or so to win 4000-100k and in those days it was not uncomon to hit 25 or 50k jackpots on 25 dollar slots and 25-100k on 100 slots once or twice a trip. The best three day trip was foxwoods. hit 2 50k jackpots and left up 125k.
But now it is all a suckers game. I have lost last 3 times to foxwoods over last two years. droping 10-20k each trip. I love the thrill of the big wins, but now its the pain off loseing consistantly. so i have given it up.
