Only Art Schleister (sp ?) would bet big bucks on these week one games.

Kansas City + 3 1/2 over Dallas - I like the Command QB (Raterink) that no one has ever heard of over the Dallas QB (Raudabaugh)that no one has ever heard of. The smallest bet my book will take is a whopping $5 - guess how much action I have on this game.

Last night I also lost on New Orleans but I bought the Philly line down to -5 so that int into the end zone saved my ***. And I missjudged the time zones and was too late trying to get a bet on Spokane so I saved some bucks there.

Just call me Art.

Any way to watch this stuff? I'm tired of college hoops.

To watch the games:

go to www.niftyTV.com and you can download their player software. It will install an icon onto your desktop which takes you to their main menu screen. Once installed (it's harmless, has been well tested, contains no worms or virsus') on the left side of the top bar you click on CHANNELS, it will open a drop down menu .

Click on "broadcast" and it will take you to whatever live game(s) is currently being played. Nothing there until actual game start time, however. Other option is "on demand" which takes you to archive of last season. Every Monday they move recent weekend games from "broadcast" into the "on demand" archive. So as this season progresses the archive will grow to include the 2011 games, as well.

Nifty does not produce its own program, but rather takes the media feed from the arena so some games have lousy sound and jerky picture if it is from the jumbotron for instance. But most are regular TV quality with local announcers, etc.

But if you are about to overdose on basketball - it is an alternative.

Works for me (and many regular AFL fans). Hope it works for you.

Tonight I got Arizona at - 1/2. $13 to win $10 as I paid some extra juice . Week one in anything scares the hell out of me.

Agreed on week one and even up to week three. Being a SOUL fan I just jumped out there. I had $20 on the SOUL & 10 on the other 2.

Didn't see much in Week 1, but watched that Chicago/Milwaukee game. Chicago's got a solid veteran QB with good enough mobility, while Milwaukee's QB is raw, but quite mobile. Milwaukee's QB missed a lot of open targets, while Chicago had the weapons at WR to make plays whenever they wanted to.

Anyone got info on some of the other teams? I'm looking to get involved with AFL this year... I've heard that if you have enough info you can make a decent dollar.

Thursday night Tampa Bay is startng a rookie QB, Grant Gregory, because Mike Potts disappointed last week. They won the game but had ZERO touchdown passes last week. This is not good in AFL.
Utah starts Tommy OGrady at QB.

My money is own home dog Utah at + 1 1/2.

Sunday night - Cleveland -2 over Tampa Bay.

Cleveland has a quarterback, Tampa Bay has a committee.

Uh, CLE has a QB? Yeah, his name is John Dutton, and he is out for the year after tearing his achilles late in the win at Spokane. Rocco will make his first ever start and throw his second ever AFL pass in this road game at Tampa.

Notice I did not argue your point about the Tampa QB problems! Man, how horrendous. TWO offensive TDs the whole night from the Drizzle. Worst loss in franchise history. Rocco was solid. A bit of a dropoff from Dutton, but CLE will be just fine with Rocco. Tampa is a lost cause until they find a QB, and they can't persuade Dietz to leave Indiana and come back to play again.

Are you the same "ScottW" that appears during games in the chat room at ArenaFan.com? If so, I sign in by "TCIndepMo".

Not a problem either way. Just curious.

Who do you like Monday night? Here it is 2 pm cst and neither of my books have even posted a line yet.

Yeah, that Pitt-Mil game really got interesting in the second half.

Thursday night I got Utah -3 at home over visiting Dallas. First road game for Dallas and I like Utah QB Grady over Dallas QB Raudabaugh.

Not going to throw my whole check book at it, but -3 is a do-able number, IMO.

Saturday night we take Kansas City plus 2 over visiting Iowa. Had to wait a while but the number finally got off plus 1.

Yes, I know it's another "homer" look but the HOME advantage is big in AFL and KC has the defense to slow down Iowa QB Banks just enough. High scoring but close game. IMO.

I finally had the guts to count up my successful picks posted here. Five winners and two losers, so far. Of course, just typing those words has probably put the curse on me forever. LOL!

Saturday night, April 16 - We take visiting San Jose -8 over Tulsa.

We also like Cleveland (14 1/2) and Jacksonville (10 1/2) but those double digit spreads scare me away.
