One of the greatest looking women of ALL time. Watching her & Monty Clift in the last few scenes of "A Place In The Sun", just broke my young heart, couldn't imagine losing a treasure like that. Sort of a parallel to what was happening to me in my life @ the age of 18.

Screen legend Elizabeth Taylor dies at 79

Academy Award-winning actress succumbs to heart failure

Breaking news

Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor, who went from child star to screen siren, died Wednesday in Los Angeles from congestive heart failure. She was 79. Her children were at her side when she died.

"My Mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humor, and love," said her son, Michael Wilding, in a statement. "Though her loss is devastating to those of us who held her so close and so dear, we will always be inspired by her enduring contribution to our world. Her remarkable body of work in film, her ongoing success as a businesswoman, and her brave and relentless advocacy in the fight against HIV/AIDS, all make us all incredibly proud of what she accomplished. We know, quite simply, that the world is a better place for Mom having lived in it. Her legacy will never fade, her spirit will always be with us, and her love will live forever in our hearts."

She lived a fairy tale life that almost any woman would envy but I imagine she had some heartbreak (Mike Todd's Death in a plane crash the worst) along the way..I was never her biggest fan but like most of you admired her beauty from afar.

May you RIP Liz Taylor..

wil..

Her experiences spanned from Richard Burton to Michael Jackson to her own. What a life. She may have been the single most significant person in American culture in the visual age.

Have you seen "Conspirator" or "A Place In The Sun"? If you do and still stand by these 2, then I fear there's no hope for you. Hepburn not even close, Liz is in another galaxy. Kelly, great looking, maybe you prefer blondes. Judging face only, IMO no one can touch her. Great boobs too. What you see in later yrs diminishes what she was @ 21. Awesome.

very sad to hear....one of the few hollywood "legends" left and now she's gone.....she was truly the american beauty of her time, and seemed to extole class at every turn...

her later years were rough, but they dont change the magical life she lead...

may she RIP

RIP

Sad to see her go. She had been living in poor health for a such a long time.

Indeed....in fact (no joke here), the author of her NYTimes obituary himself died five years ago.

Many obituaries for famous people are pre-written and hers was composed in 2005, with a few notes added on in the day after her actual passing

no hope for me because i might think audrey or grace were more attractive ... ok whatever..

i would be willing to bet that if you took 100 men over the age of 60 , more would pick grace kelly than liz taylor.
