this will be my last post at rx. i
will be cashing out my small balance monday morning at the only book where i have funds remaining at.
not making money at this anymore so its time to retire from this career.
lost a bit over 11k so far this year.
last year i lost a bit over 56k.
year before that i lost a bit over 26k.
year before that i made a bit over 21k.
year before that i made a bit over 20k.
year before that i made a bit over 75k.
year before that i made a bit over 47k.
year before that i made a bit over 118k.
year before that i made a bit over 191k.
year before that i made a bit over 70k.
year before that i made a bit over 92k. that was my last year of grad school.
graduated and never got a "real" job. this was my job.
but its not fun when you don't make money. i should have just quit after last year but tried to grind w/ small bankroll and didn't work out. now i know its time to stop. would i do it again? i don't know. working from home w/ no boss, no commute and wearing a tshirt and shorts was great until i stopped winning.
now i can see if my degrees are worth anything in the "real world"
time to make a resume.
good luck to you all.
and as a legal disclaimer all my bets were make believe
using monopoly money and imaginary sportsbooks.

If you've actually made that much, and lost so little, why would you retire? The numbers prove you make money at and make good money at it. That is, unless of course you've pissed every cent away that you won so now you're paying losses out of your pocket. Either way, best of luck in your life endeavors.

And share some secrets first, of course.

Obviously a lot has changed in the sportsbetting world in the past few years which has made it a lot harder for professionals to make money at this. The difficulty of transferring money alone and the closure of a books/casinos to the US are 2 big factors making it hard to make money in this game.

an average net of over $50k per year was a truly great run, red

if you invested (especially since most of the earnings came early in your run) and didn't buy shit, you should be set to use that half million to live ok even just sitting around in your underwear all day without having to work for a boss

best wishes (since you know it isn't luck) in whatever path you take next

I've enjoyed your posts red. It seems as though you were one who backed up your statements as opposed to those who were bullshitting.

Good luck in the corporate world.

the lines are sharper, the options are more limited, and watching the same shit over and over again will get you burnt out.

Don't blame you at all.

I never got that serious into sports betting to be doing it full time but I have been betting on sports/high stakes fantasy sports since I finished college and Im pretty burnt out by it too. It just bores me now and anyone smart enough to do it could make so much more $ doing something else. Just got other interests ive always wanted to do and finally want to pursue rather than waste 20-30hours a week following sports.

Best of luck Red in whatever the future holds for you. I want to extend an invitation to what should be a great Rx Bash this August at our most impressive venue to date. I expect Sportsavant to post complete details in the very near future..

All the best, wil.

Totally disagree. Trust me I've won a decent amount of $ over the past few years but it isn't easy and just isn't worth the time investment. Between neteller gone, matchbook closing and fantasy sports getting harder (lets face it sites like rotoworld and espn make it much easier for the idiots in my leagues to narrow my EV)

Why do you think you can't get burnt out if your winning? You can win and it still not be worth your time. Not like I said I was getting rich or anything, just made a decent supplemental income that compromised other aspects of my life and I'm growing out of (didn't mean to hijack the thread or anything)

Also, I'm just kindof bored by sports to be honest. Don't get me wrong I love it as entertainment but to win at sports betting you really need to follow it on a crazy level.
