NCAA Tournament Record: 22-10 (68.75%)
Well folks, we have now arrived at the Final Four with 4 teams that IMHO are well deserving of being here. Some may not agree but let's take a look back at the body of work of each of the 4 teams. Lets start with Kentucky. The Wildcats came into this tournament as the winner of the SEC Conference Tournament and since have beaten Princeton (59-57), West Virginia (71-63), the overall tounament #1 seed Ohio State (62-60) and North Carolina (76-69) to capture the East Regional. Connecticut came into this tournament as the winner of the Big East Conference Tournament, winning an unprecented 5 games in 5 days and since has beaten Bucknell (81-52), Cincinnati (69-58), San Diego State (74-67) and Arizona (65-63) to capture the West Regional. Butler came into this tournament as the winner of the Horizon Conference Tournament and since has beaten Old Dominion (60-58), Pittsburgh (71-70), Wisconsin (61-54) and Florida (74-71 OT) to capture the Southeast Regional. Finally, VCU comes into this tournament with an at-large bid playing in one of the 4 first round games beating USC (59-46). They then followed that up two days later beating Georgetown (64-56), then Purdue (94-76), Florida State (72-71 OT) and #1 seed Kansas (71-61) to capture the Southwest Regional.
Now, for those of you that have been following my threads, you know that both Butler and VCU have been really good to us as dogs and it is really a shame that they have to meet in the semi-finals but at least one of them will end up playing for the National Championship on Monday.
I would like to stress that the lines on both these games are extremely sharp and I fully expect these games to play out tight. The Final Four, because there are two games, is the single most popular day in college hoops, even ahead of the Championship game. Because of that, players tend to wager too much on these games similiar to the way they overplay the Superbowl. As tight as these lines are, any of these 4 teams can win or cover IMHO, so the plays I am posting are not strong plays by any means and if you find yourself on the opposite side, definitely stay true to yourself. With that being said. Two plays for today.
VCU +2.5 (-110) Betjamaica (Loss)
Kentucky -2 (-110) Betphoenix (Loss)
Good luck everyone!
