NCAA Tournament Record: 22-10 (68.75%)

Well folks, we have now arrived at the Final Four with 4 teams that IMHO are well deserving of being here. Some may not agree but let's take a look back at the body of work of each of the 4 teams. Lets start with Kentucky. The Wildcats came into this tournament as the winner of the SEC Conference Tournament and since have beaten Princeton (59-57), West Virginia (71-63), the overall tounament #1 seed Ohio State (62-60) and North Carolina (76-69) to capture the East Regional. Connecticut came into this tournament as the winner of the Big East Conference Tournament, winning an unprecented 5 games in 5 days and since has beaten Bucknell (81-52), Cincinnati (69-58), San Diego State (74-67) and Arizona (65-63) to capture the West Regional. Butler came into this tournament as the winner of the Horizon Conference Tournament and since has beaten Old Dominion (60-58), Pittsburgh (71-70), Wisconsin (61-54) and Florida (74-71 OT) to capture the Southeast Regional. Finally, VCU comes into this tournament with an at-large bid playing in one of the 4 first round games beating USC (59-46). They then followed that up two days later beating Georgetown (64-56), then Purdue (94-76), Florida State (72-71 OT) and #1 seed Kansas (71-61) to capture the Southwest Regional.

Now, for those of you that have been following my threads, you know that both Butler and VCU have been really good to us as dogs and it is really a shame that they have to meet in the semi-finals but at least one of them will end up playing for the National Championship on Monday.

I would like to stress that the lines on both these games are extremely sharp and I fully expect these games to play out tight. The Final Four, because there are two games, is the single most popular day in college hoops, even ahead of the Championship game. Because of that, players tend to wager too much on these games similiar to the way they overplay the Superbowl. As tight as these lines are, any of these 4 teams can win or cover IMHO, so the plays I am posting are not strong plays by any means and if you find yourself on the opposite side, definitely stay true to yourself. With that being said. Two plays for today.

VCU +2.5 (-110) Betjamaica (Loss)
Kentucky -2 (-110) Betphoenix (Loss)

Good luck everyone!

Nice write up OMT. BOL on your action. I am also riding VCU but unfortunately I'm on the other side of KY/Uconn. At least one of us will be on the right side. :toast:

Hi Ted,

I agree that both games will be close. So I must tease VCU(+7.5) and UCONN(+7.0)-- Best Bet for Me. Your thoughts!

Ah CW! You are a very kind and good friend and I appreciate your words. Since joining the RX in 2003, it has always been my pleasure to help our posting body in any manner I can. I've enjoyed sharing my plays for the NCAA Tournament and very happy that together we have had some success. Never underestimate the power of positive support and appreciation of effort. It definitely impacts the bottom line IMHO. Thanks for your continued friendship and best of luck on Saturday! :toast:

Thank you. Glad to hear you agree with VCU and as you stated, at least one of us will win the Kentucky/Connecticut game. Enjoy the best day in college hoops and best of luck to you as well! :toast:

Once again, welcome to the RX and thank you for registering and becoming part of our posting body. As for teasers, I very, very rarely play them at all and only in football. I've never played a basketball teaser. That being said, if you play them and are comfortable doing so, then please continue and I'll be rooting for you to win this Saturday! :toast:

Ted on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest, how do you feel about KTY winning 2 more games?

Well, I like them to beat Connecticut. If they do, I would give them a 7 to beat either VCU or Butler!

Thanx

I think they are without a doubt the most talented team of the 4.

Seems like the young players have REALLY put it all togather the last mth or so.

KTY has more NBA quality talent than Butler/VCU/Uconn combined. Young, but playing like much more mature players than when they faced teams such as UConn earlier in the season.

It's a rare Uconn faces a team that has multiple players that have as much talent as Walker. KTY is such a team. Once again, YOUNG talent (very young), but this ain't November anymore. It's March and these young players on KTY have had almost 40 games now playing against college quality talent.

I need to put a pencil to one of these 3 options

#1 Do a 2 team parlay with an open leg, and fill that leg with whom ever KTY plays for the title. parlay would be ML bets

#2 KTY futures to win title (at +145 at the moment)

#3 ML bet the KTY game, and take the wager amount + the winnings and put on KTY in the title game on the ML.

My guess is #3 is my best risk/reward ratio

What would you guess the ML will be if KTY were to face either VCU or Butler?

My choice of the three would be #2 if you have to make a play. Can't guess the ML if Kentucky beats Connecticut because it depends on how they play and how VCU and Butler play. Just remember, you asked me UNLV or Illinois and I gave you UNLV, which turned out to be the wrong side. Do whatever you feel is best for you. Best of luck whatever you decide! :toast:
