Rangers: Fully agree that Bucholz should be Boston's #2 guy. Harrison is a questions mark. He was decent in the preseason, but nobody really knows how he will do in the regular season, especially against a tough offensive lineup like the Red Sox.

I'm going to watch Harrison pitch a few games before I can begin making any plays for or against him. Therefore, no play for me on the side of the Red Sox-Rangers game.

As for the total, no play as well but I don't see why it wouldn't go over. The first two games with both teams #1 and #2 pitchers easily went over because of these potent offenses. I don't see why it wouldn't unless the wind is blowing in hard.

Speaking of which, does anyone have a link where I can check the wind direction and speed at ballparks? I previously used weather.com, but it no longer has that option (if it does, I cannot find it). Thanks in advance

Pirates at Cubs
Ross Ohlendorf coming off a terrible season and a terrible spring. Look for the Cubs to take advantage early. The Buccos relievers showed yesterday what to expect from them for the year giving up 5 runs late.
I usually bet with betus but they only have up the ML right. I'm gonna wait and take the Cubs -1 1/2.

I gave the Twins yesterday, 0-1. Twins are having a hard time getting hits, nine between the two games and one yesterday. Meanwhile the Jays have 23 hits between the two games and have out scored the Twins 19 to 4. I look for more of the same, although Blackburn had a decent spring his 2010 wasn't good (5.42 ERA) I feel he gets hit today and the Jays cruise to the sweep. TREND: over is 9-2-1 the last 12. (1-1 this series.) Good Luck.

Thoughts on Mariners...

For the side: I like Oakland in this spot with Gio Gonzalez going on the mound. Gonzalez is 4-1 with a 3.40 ERA in nine appearances against Seattle. He currently has a four-game winning streak (2.78 ERA) and was 3-0 with a 2.84 ERA in four starts against Seattle last year. The Mariners were able to come back in the ninth on the A's yesterday with 3 runs in the frame, but I think the A's avoid the sweep and get a win this afternoon.

For the total: I like the under as Fister will aim to repeat his fast opening to 2010, when he had a 2.45 ERA through 10 starts before suffering arm fatigue and struggling down the stretch to finish 6-14 with a 4.11 ERA. The 6-foot-8 Fister is 4-2, 2.90 vs. the A's in seven starts. Whereas Gonzalez will look to carry his dominant spring form over to a 2011 season that follows a breakout 2010 campaign, when he went 15-9 with a 3.23 ERA. Pounding the strike zone is key for this lefty, who has walked 4.7 per nine innings in his career.

Can't always chime in, but looking at the cubs game, I wouldn't consider betting Garza (a fly-ball pitcher) when the wind is blowing out hard to left at 22 mph. Over 12 or pass. Garza has had a very spotty spring too.

Looking at the South Siders, Danks may be the Sox best starter. He was 3-0 vs the Indians last year. White Sox -131 is a play.

Thought on Rays
Last game of the seris, Wade Davis after getting a big contract extension locking him in till 2017 season gets the start. It is Wades second season in the bigs (saying that
he learned alot the first season and is ready for the start. Last 12 starts of the season he went 7-1, Davis is 3-1 with a 2.29 era in five starts against the Orioles. The bad news is Evan Longoria is looking like he is headed to the 15 day DL with a strained oblique muscle (Sean Rodriguez to get start at third). Big news Manny get his first start
in left field today. Key match ups today Markakis, Roberts, and luke scott are a combines 8 for 42 against Davis which is good. TRENDS: Rays are 4-0 after losing the first 2 games of a seris, Rays are 68-33 in their last 101 home games with the total set at 9.0-10.5

Love the Red Sox to avoid the sweep today. I admittedly don't know much about Harrison. I heard he struggles with control which should play into Boston's strength. GL ALL

I live in the NY area and have followed the Yanks for years. I watch every game, and like to think i have a good feel for the team, and pretty fair in my analysis of the team. I would like to contribute if I could, Great thread by the way Geno.

Sunday April 3rd

Weather: Sunny and 55 degrees

Max Scherzer is starting for Detroit trying to avoid a sweep of the series. Scherzer has great numbers versus the Yanks, current Yankees are 6-37, 1 RBI and 11k's, this is a pretty small sampling, but lopsided. However, Scherzer has been awful this spring, in the tune of 20 runs in 12 innings. Phil Hughes is starting for the Yankees, his career numbers are pretty average vs Det, 277 ba against. Victor Martinez, Johnny Peralta and Miguel Cabrera have had great success, career wise vs Hughes. Hughes velocity has been down most of the spring as well, which is something to keep an eye on.

I feel both starters come out struggling, or at least one does, like my chances on the over 9 -115 for the game. Hoping for a 7-4 type of game

A play for today from me.
I haven't taken a side yet this year but the Dodger/Giant over jumped out at me.
Zito just got in a carwreck and Kirodu didn't finish the spring on a high note. Both teams bullpens have been used a bit as well. The Dodgers haven't been scoring a ton of runs without the giants having errors, but to me that means they're due. Matt Kemp crushes Zito so don't be surprised if he does some damage.
Over 7.5

Scott's out for the game, Pie in. Probably won't change much though.

Wind blowing out plenty at Wrigley. Two flyball pitchers on the mound. Over 12.5 worth a shot.

Wasn't there a stat where if the total is over 12 at Wrigley you take the over no matter what it is...least it seemed like it was $$$ when the total was over 12 at Wrigley. Something to maybe look at for the future...
