Do you have friends that can still take trips, or go to games, etc?

I find most my friends are married(and their wife wears the pants), work a 9-5er, or have kids.

I have one buddy that can do pretty much want he wants but is limited on funds.

Am I just getting old and need to grow up? lol

I can't thank GOD enough that I have never been married or had kids. 35 and consider myself one of the lucky few left

I basically fit the bill (42) and married since '98, but in a much different way than most guys as I travel a ton for business so I'm gone 100+ days a year anyway.

I look at it that when I am home on the weekends I need to spend my time with the kids - they deserve it with me being gone so much.

If I really, really want to get away I'm "allowed", however I rarely pull that card. I tend to go fishing the weekend after Thanksgiving day as I fly down to Florida that Friday AM, get on a charter boat sometime Friday night and fish til Sunday AM, when we steam back to port and I catch a flight back home shortly after getting back to shore.

I've also done a few fishing weeks with some of the guys where I've gone to far northern Canada and spent a week fishing. That's a bit too long right now to be away from the kids.

Now, If I didn't travel, I would have no problem taking both the fishing breaks. On the other hand, the wife is free to take any weekends away with the girlfriends (Toronto or New York City normally) that she wants, as long as it doesn't involve me having to miss one of my work trips that I have to take.

I also find that as I've gotten older, I have littel to no desire to go to the Bills or Sabres games. The only game I've gone to (locally) is the when the Bandits (our pro lacrosse team) went to the championship game (and won it, unlike all the other Buffalo sports teams). I've got a nice TV setup that I've had for years. Heck, instead of going to the games I would rather save up and buy a better recliner than what I have today.

Now work is a different matter. I've seen about 15 baseball games over the last few years when I've been traveling. I just did a spring training game a few weeks ago San Fran v Cincy in a grapefruit league game that was nice. The majority of the games I've seen have been with clients, though a few were just by myself.

most of my childhood friends have been married since early to mid 20's. they don't ever want to do anything with me and when i drop by just to shoot the shit , i can tell their wives ain't happy to see me. they think i'm going to drag'em away from them or something. i only get to see most on rare big social gatherings or milestone event/party.

but at the same time just cause i'm kinda single and ain't settled down, i don't really get out as much anymore , i goto a few concerts a year and sporting events.

I am 55 and been married 26 years. Don't fit the age you are talking about now, but did at one time. I have been on quite a few trips or outings without my wife and she was fine with it. The key is give and take. Ive been to Vegas on a golf trip with friends without my wife, but have also taken her to Vegas on a few occasions also. I havent been to a strip club in years but have been many times in the past and the wife knew and was fine with it. Obviously trust is a key and just dont overdue it as far as doing things with friends.. My wife trusts me and I trust her. If she wants to go somewhere with friends I never have a problem with it.

I can and do. My buddies mostly can but a lot of them are either broke or close to it. I need to find some new friends. I've been saying that for awhile.

My buddies and I try to take a short trip every year. We call it Men's Health Weekend. Its usually in New Orleans. Last year was Nashville for a football game. This year 8 of us are going to the Derby. We all have young kids now so of course our wives do not like these trips 1 bit, but somehow we still pull it off every year. Oh yeah, the trips are total shit shows. Pretty much non-stop drinking and partying.
