curious to know the story behind the pick

Chris Tillman is coming off an excellent opener against Tampa on the road going 6 shut-out innings, giving up no hits, 3 walks and striking out 5 on 101 pitches. He also was also 1-0 against Detroit in two starts last year with a 1.32 ERA and holding the Tigers to a .091 batting average. Meanwhile, Brad Penny is coming off a terrible outing against the Yankees lasting only 4.1 innings, giving up 7 hits, 8 runs, 8 earned runs, 1 home run, 4 walks and 3 strikeouts in 89 pitches. Against the Orioles he 1-0 with a 7.71 ERA in two outings. Hope that helps answer your question. Best of luck today! :toast:

Will just add to this and i am not against you, i am on the Os as well but i am just letting you know, rays have scored 7 runs in 6 games total, that is 1 run a game, so tillman shutting them out for 6 innings is no big accomplishment, i do like the Os tonight because of penny and think that they will tattoo him, but i am scared with tillman out there.... goodluck

Appreciate your comments. One thing I must say is that if you are afraid on Tillman, then pass on the game. No need to make a play. There are games everyday. Best of luck to you as well! :toast:

Well no i like the play, i capped the game and have been on it and stated this in my thread, but the reason im on this game is not because i think tillman shuts down the tigers, it is because i think the Os will pound penny, markakis and reynolds both have very good numbers off penny and i think they can put up a crooked number in the first 5 innings and hopefully blow it open... i am just saying i am not very confident in tillman but i still like the play..!!

I agree that Penny is suspect against the Orioles which is also the reason I like the play. As for Tillman, we shall see if he can repeat his past performances against the Tigers dating back to last year. Time will tell
