If the MLB betting services season ended today, the Tampa Bay Rays, Boston Red Sox, and World Series champion San Francisco Giants would have combined for two wins with all three teams at the bottom of their respective divisions. All three teams are considered legitimate contenders to participate in this year’s postseason, and that is why their should be money on all three this weekend as they enter their third series’ of the season. The Red Sox will have the toughest time to break out and string together a few wins with a weekend series against the New York Yankees, while the Rays take to the road to battle the Chicago White Sox. Meanwhile, San Francisco will host another strong outfit in the St. Louis Cardinals, but there is reason to believe that all three of those teams will be able to bounce back.

Many feel that the Red Sox rival the Philadelphia Phillies for the best pitching staff in the game, and with the additions of Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez to their offense this should be one of the deepest teams in the AL. That’s certainly reflected by the sports wagering services, which reveal Boston as the favorites to win this year’s World Series, but a lot has gone wrong so far this season. The Red Sox were lit up again by the Texas Rangers at Arlington Park, a stadium that the team has never performed well in. The bottom of their rotation looked awful in the first two games against the Cleveland Indians, but after Jon Lest made the final start of the series, the Red Sox now return home with John Lackey and Clay Buchholz both looking to rebound in their second go around of the year. There is only so long that Crawford can continue to struggle, and with a couple of unproven arms in Phil Hughes and Ivan Nova set to get the first two starts of the series for the Yankees, Boston should get on the board.

The Rays will send James Shields to the mound Friday night as Tampa Bay looks to escape Tropicana Field to get a pay per head win streak going for the first time in 2011. Shields will counter John Danks for the Chicago White Sox, and he will need to be at his best to get the Rays on the board. The same can be said Jonathan Sanchez for the Giants, who is in need of some timely hitting against Jake Westbrook and the Cardinals. Fans should be wild at AT&T Park to welcome home their defending World Series champions, and that should provide the spark that San Francisco needs to get their season going.

The Red Sox, Rays, and Giants have all struggles early this year, but one series isn’t enough to pass any judgment. All three will rebound this weekend to score consecutive wins, a turnaround trend that sports betting fans will need to keep their eye on.
