They have been doing for years. I know the loops by heart. I can tell you how many chirps on each loop and the type of bird it is. It's sad how the Masters controls the scripts, the shots, the sounds of each telecast. CBS is terrified of losing the rights so when Billy Payne says jump you get the picture.

The masters is famous for this, not allowing any kind of remotely negative depiction of the tournament. This is one reason why so many people think the masters is some kind of special experience, even though it's no different than any other golf tournament, other than it's major status.

couldnt disagree more... have you been ?

no other course is in the condition this one is year after year. when i went in 2007 , i couldnt believe the condition of all the areas that arent even in play . its an amazing experience.. a little more of one than the honda classic or any other for that matter.

having said all that , i do think they are a little too proud of themselves when it comes to how everyone involved walks on egg shells .. they could loosen up a little bit. i think having billy payne in charge will help with that.

Loosen up a bit? It won't happen; I'm still waiting for a commentator to be allowed to refer to the crowd as a "crowd" instead of the "gallery". Don't bet on that happening either.

I'm the most cynical guy in the world, but you couldn't be more wrong here. I went to a practice round a few years ago, and Augusta National is spectacular. I remember thinking, "This is what a sporting event should be like." The grounds were perfect, there was no advertising anywhere, the concession prices were ridiculously low, and the people were well-behaved. It was unlike any other event, golf or not, that I had ever been to. And, unlike any of the other golf tourneys I had attended. It was like being at church, but really cool without all of the guilt.

Birds Chirping May Not Be Fake/Scripted!

I Live 45 Minutes From Augusta...and Me and My Wife Spent Both Saturday and Sunday In The Garden Laying Irrigation Pipe and Planting. The Weather Was BEAUTIFUL, Saturday Clear/Sunny/88, Sunday Clear/Sunny/90 and There Were Times We Actually Couldn't Hear Each Other Due To All The Birds Chirping and Singing!! Seriously We Even Had a 15/20 Minute Conversation About It!

Whether they need the fake bird sounds or not, doesn't this go on everywhere and on every network? Give the networks a break. They are selling a product just like everybody else. Personally, I've never been offended or have turned off a golf tournament because of the sound of chirping birds. They still sound better than the sound a Tiger makes after a bad shot.

But I got a problem with birds chirping on holes where there are no trees and such for them to chirp from.
Unless they are magical, hovering, chirping birds.

How can anyone complain about 9 hours of golf coverage, over the weekend, with barely 4 minutes of commercials every hour?
