Iphone troubles...

Well, im not sure where this thread will lead... hopefully one of two things.. 1. youll know how to repair it or 2. youll have a iphone for cheap for me to buy

But heres the deal... I have a ATT's iphone 3gs... I been waiting for Verizon to get the iphone forever, hate ATT... well now that they have it, I am waiting for the new iphone this summer... Obviously I've been patient..

But I am having trouble with the 3gs. It says I have full signal. However, I can't make calls MOST of the time, and I can't receive calls MOST of the time.. Times that I can get or make a call, they other person can't hear me... And again thats MOST of the time...

I took it to ATT and couldn't tell me anything. I did a network reset. I replaced the SIM card. Still the same problem...

Any idea on how to fix it?

If not anyone have a working ATT Iphone 3g/3gs they would be willing to sell me for $100-$125. I hate spending that much on a phone as it is, much less one that I know I wont be using in 5 months....

Any advice would be appreciated.....

I'm leaving them in July/Aug when the new phone comes out, which is the reason I never upgraded to the iphone4

I am on T-Mobile and bought mine off Craigslist. Try it.

Its going to be tough finding some who has an iPhone laying around the house.

PS: My wife took my iPhone after I bought the iPad. I bought a Nokia instead ... once you start using the iPad at home, you don't feel like ever looking at tiny iPhone screen.

I been checking CL.. nothing in my immediate area... but, thanks for the advice... really hoping someone can give me a way to fix it. Been perfect before this

in 5 months you can still REsell for 100... so its free

There is alot of talk of a new iPhone for Verizon this summer. What I am hearing from my reps is they are takingn left over parts and making a slimmer, lower memory iPhone. It will be cheaper and out this summer. If you are waiting for the iPhone5 which will be 4g you might be waiting a while. I heard it was to be released in Jan of 2012 but the tsunami in Japan is pushing it back even further. The iPhone5 is rumored to be usuable on any carrier. They are going to make 1 version of the iPhone5 and sell it to everyone. No special ATT or verizon models. But as everyone knows iPhone news is purely rumor and no one but mr.jobs knows the truth for sure. This is just what I have heard.

I have an Iphone 3Gs with a broken screen. If you could fix it somehow I would let you have it provided you covered shipping. BTW by broken I mean cracked...phone works great just a cracked screen.

not a fan of the droids, girl has one and actually she had to replace hers twice since it first cameout... this is my first time I had an issue with mine, and I've had it for years and years... well thats not true.. I dropped mine off a 2 story balacony, that landed on my car

hno:, then concrete. However, it did continue to work for a couple weeks before it stopped....

plus some of those droids are bricks. heaviest phone out there.

Had an IPhone with ATT, but Hated the ATT drop calls shit ( i have Both ATT & Verizon )..... was going to get a Droid because friends have it and love it. Then Verizon gets the IPhone.... Now thinking of getting it.... but Also would like to wait for the Summer, as I never get a New phone when it comes out....Always wait until the 2nd run, so they can take out the Kinks.

Still up in the air... was also looking at the Thunderbolt

It has to do with the firmware you're currently having on your phone...here's a workaround...

1) turn off your 3g
2) reset your network

Your phone should work with E (edge network)...your data transfer rate and voice quality should be a little slower and worse using E versus 3G but I don't think is noticeable...Give that a try...

thats the first thing I tried. I turn off 3g, and there is no Edge network

That's not possible...the 3gs model has 3g and E just like iphone 4...if you're using wifi...the wifi icon is displayed and you can't see the "E" symbol...

Turn off Wifi and see if you can see the "E"...

you are outside your mind...I held my buddys Iphone and my driod not that much difference, maybe you got to work out on those dumbells Sir ;O)

going to upload screenshots from my phone on here if I can figure it out.. but let me tell you... I take off 3g, no wifi, no edge network. nothing.

Droid Size
Weight, 169 g (6.0 oz)

Iphone
135 g (4.8 oz)

iphone is 20% lighter than droid, and to me feels so much heavier even when Im carrying it in my pocket...

But your right, i need to hit some weight when I notice 34grams difference lol

The Thunderbolt is an awesome phone with a horrible battery. If you use it how it is suppposed to be used, six hours tops. There are 2-3 new phones coming out for verizon in the next few months. Droid 3, Incredible 2, Bionic, Atria.
